Rev 3 T-Bar Turbo - ANY OFFER considered as it goes to a TRADER on Wednesday.

Post by alias »

December 1993 Rev 3 GTS T-Bar Turbo in Goodwood Green with Hybrid Turbo fitted.

154,500 kilometers = 96,500 miles.

12 months MOT (Aug 09).

Effectively 12 months tax (end of July 09).

Dyno'd by previous owner at 257bhp (Dyno sheet available).
This was done with standard intercooler, and a gutted cat, not a decat pipe and XS intercooler as is fitted now.

Toad Cat 1 alarm and immobiliser.

Speedo reads 110mph and still limited.

Mods:-
TurboForce Stage 2 T3/T4 CT26 Hybrid Turbo fitted with uprated actuator.
Spitfire Boost Gauge.
Grainger Valve.
JapSpeed Decat and support bracket - fitted by Rogue.
Mongoose exhaust - fitted by Rogue.
XS-Power intercooler.
Magnecor HT leads.
Carbon fibre effect in cabin.
Braided brake lines.

Good points -
Private registration number.
MOT test is on the higher emissions so flies by every time, due to year of car. See posts here about MOT emissions exemptions.
Alloys only 1 year old from new - Team Dynamic Pro Race 1.2 (17inch).
Oil (fully synth major brands), filter and plugs (NGK grade 7) changes every 3000/4 months miles - receipts to prove.
New discs front and rear (EBC) in April.
New pads front and rear (Green stuff and Mintex) in April, along with brake fluid 5.1 flush and change.
New dizzy and rotor arm with last oil change.
New boot ruber seal from Toyota.
New reverse light sensor on gearbox from Toyota.
Zero clutch slippage.
Car has been owned by previous members of IMOC.
Recently been to 3s service centre (June) for a small oil leak fix and undercar engine check and clean.
Only run on 99ron fuel.
Cambelt changed at 60k.
Elec working aerial/central locking/heaters/wing mirrors.
Power steering works fine.
Air con works fine.
Toolkit, t-bar blinds and t-bar bags all available.
Enkei lightweight magnesium spare wheel with brand new unused tyre.
Car boosts all the way to red line, very smooth.
Coolant flush and change done this year.
New (second-hand) throttle body and sensors fitted last year to cure pre-existing idle issue - car runs spot on.
New O2 sensor.
New Toyota wiper blades.

Bad points:-
Small patch of discolouration on bonnet. See pics.
Occasional knock from front right drop-link - new one fitted from TwosRus - lasted 1 year
Odd drip from drivers window when using power washer, applying silica gel to replensih rubber cures it.
Usual light scratches for nigh-on a 15 year old car.

Anyhoo...

Loads of history from previous owners including previous credit history check, plus dyno print out, turbo receipt, loads of Toyota receipts, etc.

All receipts also kept by myself since ownership in May last year including proof of oil changes etc, fitment of parts, etc.

This is my third MR2 and second Turbo, have always used Rogue (and recently 3S) for bigger work I could not do myself such, and have been a member here for a few years now.

I have tried to think of all points good and bad to be as honest as possible to save wasting anyone's time.

The car has been (and still currently is) a daily runner to/from work for the last year and a bit.

Considering the work that has gone into the car getting it to the above working standard (didn't even have a elec aerial when I got it), and the long tax and MOT, and hybrid turbo etc, the price is a very fair £3000 for a quick sale.

Thanks for looking.

p.s. I am in the Swansea (ish) area. :-) Can travel if needed, no probs.

You certainly did. Yours looked nice :thumleft:

I have been offered a ridiculously low price by a trader, and it looks like I am going to have to take his offer, so it might be gone by Wednesday, unless someone else wants to make me an offer, and trust me, it couldn't be as low as the trader's offer.

I can't believe how little these are going for now. :-(

Fella, if I could I would. The last thing I want to do is help drive the price of these beauties down, and it is depressing me having to sell it, but that is the thing, I HAVE to.

Speaking to various people, the market is basically dead, and that prices have plummeted this summer. Very sad situation.

Come on people, make me an offer :thumleft:

Ha ha ha, well I did say ANY offer, lol.

Afraid not fella, I should have said any sensible and decent offer, as you would have to more than double it to get my attention away from the cheap (read "robbing barstewards") yet convenient trader. :pale:

Thanks for the offer though.

That's OK.

It's all fukced up mate tbh. Bought the car a year and a bit ago for £3700, and it needed a lot of attention. I sorted all the initial problems out like idling - with a new throttle body, fixed the elecy mirrors, various seals, t-bar leak, rigorous plugs/dizzie/oil changes, new alloys made to order, new falkens all round, new aerial, spent about £1500 on mods like downpipe, avcr, brakes all round, and all that, and another grand on it running sweet and reliable.

It's my second turbo, and I take great pride in having an MR2 that is well looked after and a nice example. My previous tubby was a rev 4 and bit more of a looker tbh - it was TopGuns Rev 4 before he had it, but this runs just as sweet now and is rapid too with a different character thanks to the hybrid. Very smooth.

Anyway, I can't believe how much the market has changed this year. I have been looking at Honda CRX's as i have a soft spot for them, and they are selling for WAY  more than these, yet they are 1.6 n/a. Some of them are going for 5k plus for H or J reg, so what is it about MR2's I wonder?

Well, this is probably my last post and a very sad day for me, as a trader is going to get his hands on it for very silly money  in a couple of hours, and I probably won't be owning one of these for a few years I would imagine (and I have had an MR2 in one shape or another for the last 5 years), as the mrs no longer has a job. ](*,)

I will have another one though at some point, another tubby for sure. Having an MR2 on my drive is as part of me as my arms and legs, and it will be very sorely missed. :(

Still, life must go on, eh?

All the best to everyone. :thumleft:
