Right I'm at my wits end with an issue on our SC.

On Saturday Tom
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
& I replaced the cambelt and the dizzy
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
(
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
) seal
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
(outer O-ring).
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
As I found a tiny hole in the cambelt and the dizzy was leaking a bit.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Everything went as well as one could expect.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Got it to TDC, replaced cambelt.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Removed dizzy replaced O-ring, refitted making sure it was all aligned etc.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Before removing the plugs to get it to TDC, I clean out the plug chanel
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
- it had oil residue from a spill not long ago but a tiney bit of oil got into the holes.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Attempted a blow out by cranking the engine without the plugs
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
- nothing came out as expected
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
(it wasn't much at all that went in)
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Reassembeled everything.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Car started after a bit of spluttering and set the dizzy to it's previous position as marked up before removing.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Car idled well and seemed to respond well off throttle.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Took it for a test drive to the shops
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
(pick up much needed beer
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
).
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
On the way out there was one tiny stutter
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
- nothing much.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
It felt like the SC belt slipped
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
(I knew it needed nipping up).
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
On the way back there were a couple of bigger hesitations/missfires only when pegging the throttle
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
(WOT).
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
So took it gently all the way thinking I got the timing out.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Due to time and other commitments, didn't get chance to look at it until yesterday.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
As the dizzy had been leaking oil over the altenator and associated connectors/wiring I clean them up thoroughly
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
(each pin removed from the connectors etc.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
).
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Double checked everything.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Put it all back together and the same thing.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Got the timing gun out and found that when timing is bang on any movement of the throttle, the engine just missfires/hesitates/stalls.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
The engine wont start when timed either.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
It idles fine.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Advance the timing by a bit, the engine starts fine and idles fine and runs OK with gentle increase of throttle, but under WOT the same symptoms occur.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Tom seams to think it's electrical, possible that the coil pack has gone faulty, but this would be a massive coincidence between cambelt change.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Others on the SC forum reckon it may be the dizzy, but again none of the contacts have been touched.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
All vacuum hoses, electrical connectors
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
(related
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
& not) etc.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
have been checked.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
This is really doing my head in.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
I have access to a spare dizzy and coil pack from this evening and will try them.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
The car ran perfectly before all this work so we just can't understand what/how/why
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Any ideas? Anyone experienced similar before?
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
This topic is mainly aimed at Mr Woods, Kev
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
& Kevin-in, but anyone else with actual definitive knowlege, your sugestions would be more than welcome.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
JAE beer tokens available
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
(The car is needed to get us to and around Spa this coming weekend.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
So we are kinda very desperate.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
