[All] [Generic] Not finding this forum very user friendly

Post by jaymdee »

Is it me or can this forum be a bit non-user frendly. I'm used to the mkivsupra.net web forum and on there it is easy to fnd things. For example we have a load of stickies/FAQ's with lists of recommended oils, spark plugs etc, but on here I'm really struggling to find what copper NGK spark plugs I need in my MR2 Turbo, running slightly higher than stock boost.

I also find the search won't let me 'go back' without refreshing the page every time.

Not having a pop, maybe I'm not using it right, but I'm getting frustrated at not being able to find out info which should be readily to hand. Sometimes I've ended up resorting to looking on the Supra site for MR2 info!

If there is a list along the lines above, please can someone put a link to it?

cheers :)

yes paul fully aware of post regarding spitting flames death and that background has changed as a mark of respect which i have highlighted on another post as imoc is running very slow the last few days, i was on last night giving my deepest sympathy to family and loved one's which im suprised at as post has just disapeared, i have not taken offense to what you have said as im on here everyday and do read most post's i am now informed of the reason for this, i noticed top of screen being different but only just noticed reply box thanks paul for pointing this out :thumleft: :thumleft: :thumleft:

Hi mate :)

I know what you mean. There is some very good "sticky" info, though - I guess just not everything has been covered.

It's one reason whay most people simply post new threads asking simple questions which, you would think, could be answered by searcing.

Incidently, when searching: always open a result in a new window (or tab) to avoid having to re-run the search.

And: grade 6 Iridium is standard. Grade 7 is recommended for increased boost :thumleft:

cheers mate, but TBH I know I want 7's rather than 6's.

I've just ordered NGK BKRE7 6097 plugs. It's the exact NGK code I was after, but can't find anywhere!!

This site is a piece of p1$$ to work out. And the going back a page problem is probably crappy internet explorer. Get a real browser (i.e. firefox :oldtongue: )

My biggest bug bear with the forum would be the broken knowledge base, so many dead links and missing pics :(

ditto. the links should be hosted on imocs webspace rather than old sites kicking around on the net.

i.e. this is the most useful link in the mr2 world in my eyes...

How about a "Best" section with a table under each part where different items could be put on with an average score out of 10 given. i.e. tyres, spark plugs, filters, springs etc.

The search function could be a bit better .
If you use Google and search for spark plugs for instance, if you type this into the search field:

spark plugs site:www.imoc.co.uk

It will only search IMOC for the subject you are looking for.

Works very well

As I understand it, by hosting the pics it takes up more server space and it costs more money or something like that. I do recall that it has been discussed and was agreed as not practical.

could it not work by setting up an IMOC admin photobucket account? then all pics could be hosted there and would never be deleted?

Sounds like a superb idea. :thumleft: Would work very well for the knowledge base.
