[Mk2] [Generic] Wiring in gauges - How to?

Post by leewaring »

Wondering which wires go where. I assume 2 goto the senders.

I have a set of AutoGauge oil gauges. The connector that plugs into the back of them has 4 wiires coming out: red, orange, black and green. Which wires go where?

Any ideas?

Here's a pic:

they look axactly like my option tuning guages. even the wiring looms going into the back are exactly the same....

heres the wiring instructions for mine which i will put money on them being the same

oil pressue is...

red - ignition live 12v
black - negative
green - oil pressure sensor
orange - connect to dash light or cigarette lighter light..

on the pressure sender...

g - green wire
wk - negative

oil temp is

red - ignition live 12v
black - negative
green - oil pressure sensor
orange - connect to dash light or cigarette lighter light..

and on the sender--

white wire - green wire from the guage
black - negative

Brill!

Ok so now the question is... what do i wire the ignition live 12v wire into? and and which cig lighter wire to I connect to?

is the ignition for main power and the orange for the bulbs on the gauge?

Thanks fo the help. I'm not too great with electronic's and stuff.

Installation pics would be great or a writeup if you have one?

Much appreciated :thumleft:

I would either use the switched 12v wire to the cigarette lighter for the red wires... or a switched live into the stereo

and then the orange wire would go to the light on the cigarette lighter..

i would do the cigarette lighter cos its easy to get to... and easy to tell which wires are which...

i dont know which colours are which... but if you tell us what coulours you have there, then sum1 will come along and tell you which ones which

Yeah i was thinking of wiring up the power to them both to check they work.

I was going to mount them in the single dinn space under my sterio but they dont really fit too well so might have to find a pillar pod for them :-k
