OK this is still in its early stages (it literally started with a thread on the MR2OC at 20 to 9 this morning) but basically i'm here to suggest a 'go slow' in key areas of Scotland/England.

We are aiming to get as many car/bike enthusiast clubs involved as we can , so the idea is to spread the word, get us all united and get our point across to this government.

As i have already said, it's early day's, nothings set in stone yet but if we all do our bit we can make it happen.

So put your name on the list if you are interested and feel free to add any suggestions.

unfortunately there is nothing we can do about oil prices as it is all linked into the US economy and that wont move anywhere until after the elections in november. what should be done though is try and get the government here to lower the duty on fuel, 58% it currently lies at...pretty rediculous.

I'm up for anything that might help this...where are the key places in Scotland supposed to be? I'll get my pal with the minis to put it out as well, they cany go much faster than 10mph, well some anyway!

The price of petrol is only going one way. Production in most places in the world has already peaked and is in decline. Basic demand and supply tells us what the outcome will be...

What we need to do is get the greedy government to change their (quite frankly absurb) fuel duty tax regime from a percentage take, to a set amount per litre. We pay nearly two thirds of the price per litre in tax and then pay VAT on the gross total!!! This means that under the current taxation system every time the price of crude goes up, the government's tax system trebles the real term impact to the motorist at the pumps.

The government should decide a certain level of taxation i.e. 40p per litre or whatever instead of taking a percentage. If they then wanted to increase this they would have to make a proposal to do so instead of just quyietly profiotong off of rising oil prices which lets face it - are here to stay and getting worse...

Only problem is the government need the money, if they lower duty they will make it up somewhere else.

The problem is due to an increase in demand especially in India and China for petrol, simple supply and demand.

Some oil producing countries are producing less oil then Before (Iraq).
The only way to reduce the cost of petrol is to invest more money and produce more.

On the other hand if there were not so many people sponging off the system, or as much NHS tourism costing this country god knows how much we could reduce the duty.

the reason we pay so much for fuel is due to the tax, even when oil prices have dipped, petrol prices have rose hear.


why are the americans paying a third of what we do, they are a far bigger country leaving a massive carbon footprint and they all drive round with v8's!!!!!!!!!!
