Recently filled up my tank,it was on the red light, only managed to get 34 litres in,is this normal?
I have a mr2 mk1 manual on disc and it mentions that the tank is 41 litres.
if im guessing right does that mean that theres still another 7 litres left
well i have left it till it gets past the red but wasnt sure how far i would get so filled up so i wouldnt break down.
my seat cordoba has 7 litres when it hits the red so its a bit easier to judge
well the reason is im trying to figure out what mpg im getting also,i genarally get around 190 to a tank, but if im only filling it up with 34 litres then its rather innacurate..
the first quarter i get around 70 miles out of the tank,im interested to know what everyone else is getting, bearing in mind mine is a supercharger, with fensport pulley ,air filter, and exhaust..
im probably worrying about nothing
same here. I never manage more than 30 litres in mine even with the light on, but working out the mpg gives 33-38 so I guess all is well. WOuld be nice to "extend the range" a bit though.
33-38mpg? your not driving it hard enough. I get 20-25mpg in mine.
I do find that when you fill the tank the first 3/4 seems to go down quicker then the last 1/4.
The easiest way to find out your mpg is th fill the takn until the nozzle clicks. Drive the car and then when you next fill up work out how much fuel it takes. You can work out how many gallons by dividing the number of litres by 4.54 to convert to gallons.
For example:-
e.g.
250 miles divided by (38 litres divided by 4.54) = 250/(38/4.54) = 29.87 mpg
I put 26litres in the other day, as I couldnt really afford to put anymore in
215/(26/4.54) = 37.5 and ive still a quarter of a tank left
Ive only EVER managed to put in 32 litres before, and that was with the red light on.
The most I've ever squeezed in was 41 litres but this was a one off although I did fill it to the brim.
I usually get between 34 and 37 litres if I get the light on fairly steady.
I reckon the 41 litre measurement may have been caused by a dodgy petrol pump...
