Its quite an easy job on the mk1 aswell, hardest part is getting the gearbox back on which is easier if ou have a friend helping. I followed the haynes manual to do mine and it didnt take long.

If your doing it on your own then i'd say its easier to drop the engine, however if you have mate who can help then you wont need to, its still not a nice job though, oh & make sure you have a set of decent tools too :thumleft: , Jinxy

Any local motor factor should have a clutch kit, should cost no more then £75-£80. I got a Aisin one for mine which happened to be exactly like the one that came out.

Mate, if you haven't done it yet I'd go for an uprated clutch but that depends on budget as you'll be looking at £200+ for the part alone. Try the eBay shops - The Motorists Discount Centre is a good one!

Good Luck!

He's selling his car mate, no need for an uprated clutch.

Me and my mate did mine. These boys are right, worse part is putting the box back on and lining it all up right.

£105  !!!!!!!!!!! either it was gold plated or the labour charges around your way are horrendous, we wouldnt have charged anywhere near as much & i have a few slave cylinders knocking around on the shelf here too, still if it sells the car then its money well spent :thumleft: , Jinxy
