A few 360 questions

Post by Spittinflames »

I've got a bit of money sitting in my paypal account and as much as i hate the 360 console for being unreliable there's no denying there are some great games for it.... When i had my old one i really enjoyed forza 2 and GOW.

The console can be had for peanuts now so i wouldnt mind grabbing another one.

I'm not to bothered about going online with it so what system would be best for me?

I've heard of a pack called the arcade pack, whats this?

also the core comes with no hardrive right? Would i need a harddrive if im not going online?

Basically i just want it so when mates come round i can switch it on and have a quick bash at some games.

Are the newer ones more reliable or did microsoft not bother fixing the red light thing.

The Arcade pack comes with no hard drive, a 256mb memory card and 1 wireless controller.
It now has a proper HDMI output on it too.
I "believe" most games can be played off the 256mb memory card but as you say, no chance of live or downloading anything.

It's only £149.99 on play now :thumleft:

I HEAR they're more reliable, remains to be seen as yet.

You need a hard drive to save all your games on mate. Otherwise you can use memory cards, USB sticks or a lead that connects to your PC.

Get an Elite if you can. Best by far and far more reliable. The new gen 360's have changed quite a bit now though so they shouldn't feck up. :thumleft:

Arcade pack comes with the memory card.
Pro pack comes with 20gb HDD.
Elite comes with 120gb HDD.

Thai - I was under the impression all the internals were the same now?

Not sure on the differences between the Premiums and the Elites now. I know the Elites had difference DVD drives, fan units, HD and HDMI of course. Sam will prob know.

The Elites look much better anyway...and are definately quieter.

My new one is still a bit noisey.

Problem for this guy though is he want a cheap one. Elite is like £280 - £300 compared to £150 - £160 for an arcade console.

Yeah. Unfortunatley the Halo 3 edition 360 I bought wasn't a falcon  Never mind, if it goes, MS can replace it. :thumleft:

Thanks guys i'll have a look around see what i can find then post up on here to see what you think.

I'd get a second hand one, but if it feks up thats it, im bolloxed. If they've changed the new ones to make them more reliable then i'll get a brand new one.

The Arcade is basically the replacement for the old Core package but with the newer machine.

MS have had some many people ring up for the RROD error that they dont ask for many details so even buying a second hand one, you could still get it fixed.

if you shop around you can get GTA and a premium for under £200 so the premium on its own is worth getting.
