If i put a music cd in, it stops every 2mins or so then plays... then stops again and sometimes it goes into a mad skipping frenzy , Cds are either brand new or old but totaly clean.

Try running a cd cleaner through it, sounds like ur lazer is dirty or damaged.

Either that, or the unit is overheating. My Sony headunit does similar things after it's been on for some time at fairly high volumes.

From both of your posts, it seems like i need to replace the unit
as the cd player keeps getting cleaned and it isnt on long enough
to overheat it starts to jump or stutter pretty much straight away.
