As has been said

- thanks very much for a great meet Scott

(And of course the team at Elite)! It was all very well organised and I enjoyed it

- a rare day out for me! My first MR2 meet of 2008!

As you've probably already read, it wasn't entirely without incident.

The alignment doesn't seem to have been spot on in terms of the offside rear tie bar

- it left the balljoint at the very limits of its travel meaning that when the car then went over a bump, it pushed the balljoint too far; damaging it.

.

.

We don't think that was the cause of the knocking noise that started though.

I'm still to definitely trace that one down, but suspicions are that the bushes may have been on their way out already

(well, they are pretty old) and now the alignment has pushed them to the limits of their travel available and so there's now metal knocking against metal rather than a rubber bush in between.

.

.

Typical, just when you go spend some money on a car it suddenly throws up a whole load of wobblies.

And now Sasha has no idea what a properly aligned car feels like.

.

.

Big big thanks to Jinxy for coming back to help us try to find the problem.

I couldn't find where the knocking had come from so Sasha suggested giving him a ring; between us we still couldn't find the cause.

It was reassuring to have someone who knows more about these bits than me have a look as well, so huge thanks to him for being the mega-bloke he is and coming all the way back again to help out!

(Jinx, the car did wander a bit again on the way home while on the motorway.

.

.

)

Still, we crawled back home and got there safe and sound

(though I didn't get back to mine until after midnight.

.

.

).

Looks like I've now got another Mk1 that needs suspension sorted.

.

.

Lying under the car during and after it had rained wasn't the nicest way to end the meet, but I was still in good spirits over all

- I'd enjoyed the meet that much that even getting covered in water and grease couldn't dampen my spirits.

.

.

Anyway, it really was a good day.

Even though I didn't take many photos

(muppet here forgot to recharge the camera battery so had to be conservative) I did get a few:

(Knocking comes from this side, but it's the balljoint on the other side of the car that's gone.
