[Mk2] [NA] cd unit wiring

Post by Antno »

my standard tape/radio was working fine but now i've took it out and cut the red/yellow/black so i could connect to my new cd play there isnt an power. ive tested it with a ammeter tried the red with earth on the black and body but theres nothing also tried the yellow in the same way. is there any fuse that could have gone and where is it. could the reason be that my cigarette lighter isnt wired up because i have to remove the dash. also does any body know which colour is for which speaker beause im guna cut all the wires and use heat shrink.
My car is the rev 1 g-limited

ye that helps but just wondering about the power supply as well n i dont think mine is the 1 with the active sub i have checked behind the passenger seat and there is just a carpeted box. i dont no is there is 1 inside but there doesnt seem to be any holes. there is no supply of electicity comin through my red or yellow which im thinking that 1 is constant one is ignition. any ideas if theses are the power wires and if they are why they dont supply power now when they did before with the standard unit.

If you have the subs behind the seat then there will be a speaker cover on the front of them
Not sure on your power supply sorry ,Mine wouldn't work at first as its earthed through the aerial connection, has anything else stopped working ciggy lighter, could have blown a fuse? number 10 on here

Steering column shroud and ignition key surround a strip above the dials and then the clocks will come forward(i think from memory)

Don't cut up the harness just to install a radio! get a connector set and do it up nice and easy. You wouldn't even have to guess wire colors.

I posted this thread linked below because I can't stand to hear "Cut wires".
