1989 mr2 mk1 SC - mica blue

Post by HT »

Change in circumstances: my Mk1 SC has to go.

- started out as an autotragic, that I had converted to a manual. So clutch is new (less than 1000 miles) - should note it was converted using a C51 transmission out of a UK mk1 (which works perfectly, with no fifth gear nod). It drives very well, I've been very impressed with it
- has all the late model goodies such as elec folding mirrors, mirrored glass t-top, as well as the usual climate control AC.
- has covered 131,000 km, has no history but has been fully serviced less than a 1000 miles ago including, air/fuel filters, s/plugs, distributor cap.
- MOT'ed till september 2008.
- S/S magnex exhaust.
- mica blue with blue interior (yikes!), which is in good condition, still has the original jap double-din stereo (even the aerial works).
- Bodywise its rot free underneath, and has just had the lower passenger arch panel replaced with a JDG panel. It needs the rear arches refinishing alongwith the front passenger wing (this is presently white, as I replaced it when it was bought as it came with a ding in original). Unusually its rustfree along the top of the windscreen.

Other things:
- an ecu temp sensor is caput (another one is on route, thank you Kevin), which I will get replaced.
- minor oil weep (around the oil filter area), don't know where but yep it drips from somewhere.

I'm only selling due to impending house move, and a change in priorities - would love to keep hold of it but have no time and before end of year no garage!

I'm open to offers, I have no idea what it is worth - I just want it gone, before I change my mind and try and source a garage to mothball it in. Will be odd not having a mk1, although girlfriend will be immensely overjoyed

Is the SC A/C old school ac that uses some sorta chemical that u cant get a charge for anymore?

Have you modded the engine at all and is the speedo still in KM only? Infact is the car still restricted to 110mph or whatever cause its JDM? Or was that never an issue on mk1s?

Thnx for answering my somewhat weird questions! :thumleft:

No not weird, so here goes: yes its in KPH (but has an inner ring of MPH) - however the audible chime was removed by past owner (probably upon entry to country). I have a spare speedo in MPH included. HTH

Pre '92 so will have used R-12 originally. Can be serviced using a replacement called RS24 for £85 - http://koolairsystems.co.uk/page001.html

Speed limiter is set in the ECU using the SPD signal from the speedo - cutting the wire results in the ECU fault light illuminating but no other effects

Hi again :)

Do you have pictures of what it looks like currently? As you said youve deleted the strange yellow fogs, wont be having those Rotas and theres some panels that need finishing.

Thanks!

Sorry for the confusion - it looks like it is without the fogs.

The brand new rota's are an entirely separate matter and thats clearly outlined. Incidentally if you do a search you will see them advertised on here.

I'll take some photos asap: tbh I parked it up in the garage on sunday morning and aside from replacing the original stereo during the week haven't had anytime yet, as I've had some urgent personal stuff to sort out. Threfore it may be as late as the w'end before time allows.
