MR2 Mk2 Rev1 dark metallic green £999 engine blown

Post by ed_arnold »

Great looking T-Bar - sadly bottom end of the engine has gone. Would make a great project / donor car. Would accept offer of £999

Good luck with that...rev1's struggle to make £1000-£1300 when they are up and running..although yours looks a clean'un.

Maybe you should get hold of another engine and sell it all fix'd up and clean !

Theres lots of 3sge's around due to all the v6 and turbo swops happening, you should be able to pick one up for £250-£300 delivered. I sold my one for £120 + delivery !

I'd thought about it but didn't find any 3SGEs for a reasonable price. Perhpas I'm looking in the wrong places! I could really do with changing the car to something cheaper to run anyway tbh, and thought someone might enjoy it as a project. Anyway - like it says I'm open to offers - 999 would be the upper limit. Thanks!

Nice V6 btw!

Hi Ross - thanks that's fair enough. For those of you that have had an engine replaced - what were labour costs like? Don't really want to get into doing the work myself, plus I don't have the tools for the job. :?

you'd have to phone round some garages near you to get costs for an engine swop.

its a good 2 days labour with coolant, oil & filter costs, also you'd prob stick a new clutch in there and possibley a new cambelt too, while the engine is on the floor. so your looking at £400-£500 plus the engine.....as your just fixing it to sell anyway, you wont make any more money. So your best bit is to lower your start bid to around £250-£300 and see where the bidding goes.

you wont be selling it for anywhere near £999....if you look down the page, theres another rev1 for £600ono with a dead engine...( which is a little high also ).

Ross's £500er was a rev2 and they are worth slightly more stirlings.

I'd say a rev1 with a dead lump is £200-£300 worth....you may get more if you broke it up and sold the parts, but then your left with a stripped out shell to get rid of !
