Checking times after is cool though.

Just like when Karting!

You get your times at the end.

You push and push, finding out limits etc. And you get the printout at the end.

Timings after - as I understand it would be okay, also karting is competative and probably safer - also you get times at the end, not on the way round. As I understand it, could be wrong, it is when you are timing as you go along, so you see you are behind and maybe push it too much or cut inside someone. I may be wrong on that though.

Fair comment and from what i've seen of you driving you do indeed appear to be courteous and well judged in your track ettiquette.

I guess i got mixed up with the whole 'chest thrusting' thing going on.

FWIW i don't see anything wrong with a bit of fun between friends on track as long as distances are maintained and you both respect each others safety. I have immensely enjoyed doing this myself with various people whom i know well.

I must admit, i've not ever timed as such on a trackday. I generally don't bother to film my exploits as we've already got tons of it from 6 years ago and its not the most interesting thing to watch I find.

LOL! I'm just uber at arguing honey. One thing to remember is that i won't enter an argument unless i'm 100% sure i will be proved right. As is often the case the argument was one of semantics, which once clarified led to both parties agreeing on the points that were made (by both of us). HTH.

If you enter into an 'argument' that you have no chance of losing, then by definition another person has another point of view, the only outcome you are planning is to 'teach'. The unwanted aspect of 'teaching' is dictatorship.

I prefer to enter into discussions, therefore I retain the option of learning.

I for one can't wait to see Andy out on track, he seems to have a similar attitude towards the days. Safe driving but enjoying exploring and comparing your cars abilities with other drivers at similar paces (read: NOT RACING)

I fail to see why he was banned from BAT if he worked out his laptimes from a camera? I tape over my laptimer on BAT days as I respect the marshalling but still see it going on. Other TDOs don't seem to care. I'll be recording my laps at Rockingham on camera...

It's actually an insurance complaince that means when I came on the forum before and presented my laptimes for comparison all hell broke loose, and BaT had to be seen to do something positive for fear of having their reputation with the insurance companies/track owners compromised.

It was my mistake. I'm certain that deriving from Camera's in the evening cannot be prevented, but as soon as you start posting up then you are not doing what you've been asked.

Since cameras are allowed, and laptiming isn't, I feel it's a little grey area.

To extend the theory further, if you're driving with a camera you know you can derive times, so how is that different from A.N.Other timing your lap from the pitwall? How about me timing from the pitwall someone ELSES laptime whom I do not know, then telling them in the pits?

I think it's a little grey area, and I don't want it argued anymore, I stupidly posted my times, I didn't have in-car timing equipment, it was my fault and I think BaT had to be seen to be doing something.
