Update on the plan!

As it's bank holiday weekend, there isn't going to be any scope to getting cheaper ferries... but the good news is that I can probably provide free accomodation (or camping space) for everyone provided we do a little bit of gardening (just need to convince the relies to hand over keys ;) ).
Red Funnel costs £62.50 for ferry crossing (car and 2 people) aiming to leave on the 8am ferry on Saturday (25th Aug) morning, and come back on the 7.30pm ferry on Monday evening (27th Aug).

What's on?
Saturday 25th Aug:
The aim is to get to the island at approx 9 am, and to spend Saturday having a drive around the lower half of the Island, stopping off for a nice beach cafe lunch, crazy golf, kiddies amusements, touristy stuff, have some fun on the beach. Then find our way to digs, dumping stuff, then going for a pub dinner at the Crab and Lobster (Bembridge).

Sunday 26th Aug:
Powerboat P1 world championship British GP!
Head over to the north half of the Island, with lunch and an afternoon in Cowes - soaking up the atmosphere of the P1 Powerboat world championship - watching from Cowes or a bit further around at Gurnard.

FREE spectating from shoreside, or you could pay £100 for hospitality ;)

Monday 27th Aug:
White Air Extreme Sports Festival!
Head over to Yaverland/Sandown to take a look at the Extreme Sports Festival (windsurfing, parkour, surfing, trails bikes, skate, land yachting, kitesurfing, bmx, including the world windsurf racing championships 2007).

Free stuff to have a try at ;)

I just need to figure out how much it is to get in... ho hum (i'm on it!)

Catch ferry back at 7.30pm

So - i'll start a proper list of attendees now - wanna come? :)

If you want to come, you will need to book your ferry.
I have just booked ours for 8am Saturday 25th, return 7.30pm Monday 27th August. Cost £58.50

We will be crashing at friends in Southampton on Friday night, but there are plenty of hotels around if you have a longer drive to the ferry and want to crash the night before.
You will need to get to the ferry 30 mins before departure.
If anyone wants to meet up before joining the queue, I will make sure we park up in mayflower park or town quay at 7am (right next door to the red funnel), and we can then drive round from there to join the ferry queue.

Anna are you lot getting the ferry from Lymington? If so be aware that they have closed Marsh Lane so unless your coming in from Beaulieu direction the only access to the ferry is to go up to the top of town and down the High street or Avenue road...

Oh - thanks for the heads up - i'm going via soton - but if peeps want to use the wightlink offer, they might go lymington way... sounds like it's a bit of a PITA though!

Because of the lack of interest, we'll be taking the other car over with us with our bikes et al (cos the weather looks like it should be good), so it's cancelled as a mr2 event.
