a few questions-

does anybody know what the standard rev limit should be on the 3s-ge lumps?

and i have this 5.5k revs kick where the engine sound/power increases, it seems like vvti, any info?

7k is the rev limit give or take a few. No the 3sge does not have vvti unless you have a very rare BEAMS engine.. it will have BEAMS written on the top of it.. :thumleft:

Looks nice mate, like the red panel at the back :thumleft: Maybe try some polish on the light clusters though to bring them up a bit...?

Which would explain your kick after 5.5k revs possibly?

I was told by one of the mechanics at Rogue that the intake plenum on the stock 3SGE has a baffle inside which opens up to increase the volume when you put your foot down. This might explain some of the deep "bark" noise you get from the N/A engine at higher revs? As far as I can remember, my old 3SGE power band kicked in about 3,500rpm so sounds like the different cams have increased this.

It's definately not VVT-i as that should kick-in at about 4k unless it's been adjusted. I can't see what the pictures are but Leyroy said it looked standard. You'll know immediately if it has got the VVT-i engine http://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/garage.php ... e&CID=1977.

I was refering to the exhaust, not the lump, as there are no pics of the lump...

Nice looking 2 you have there :thumleft:
Don't worry about the 5.5 krpm thing its perfectly normal although mine comes in at about 5, u get a little push and the engine / exhaust note changes. 8)

yeah haven't polished it yet, just a simple clean :)

the exhaust is quite loud (will a decat on standard exhaust do this?), the previous owner said it's custom but unsure!

Yes, although without hearing it its hard to say how loud "quite loud" is

It looks exactly like a stock exhaust - pipe size and tappering and twin exit. Nothing wrong with the stock exhaust mate 8)

More likely due to the cams you have in there...

Your kick at 5300rpm O:) is standard. At the AW11 it is called t-vis i believe and in the SW20 it's ACIS. It's some kind of valve that opens and increases your airflow and gives you an extra kick.

Nice ride!
