Guys, this might be a stupid question with a gearbox off the car how can it be tested for the presence of LSD, I don't mean the drug either....

i think......
have the box in netrual, then try and spin one of the outputs and the other side should spin the same way, if it goes the opposite way then it does not have an LSD
anyone care to correct me

when I say its off the car I mean it has no output shafts or anything I can put into the diff outputs, so turning the drives either way would be pretty difficult.

If its a rev3 gearbox they all have lsd fitted standard

It tells you on the plate in the frunk if your car has an lsd.

yes - if you look at the vin plate in the frunk - then follow this...
To verify if your car has a LSD, check the vehicle identification plate on the inside of front bonnet. There are a number of codes given there, including the transmission type, whose code starts with the sequence "A/TM"
For example, A/TM:- 735/E153
If the last digit before the/E153 is a '3' or a '5' then the car has a LSD - therefore in the example above it does.
The second part of the code is the transmission type- E153 is a heavy duty manual transmission for the Turbo.
