How can I open my fuel flap ?? - PLEASE HELP

Help please - I've got 1/4 of a tank left (at best) and the fuel flap release is not working !! The lever lifts up and I can hear the cable moving behind me somewhere, but the flap is still very closed.
Any tips on how I can open it apart from a trip to Mr T ?

Try some Silicone lubricant sprayed around the fuel filler flap. You sure the cable release from the driver's floor is working correctly?

dont know if its the same on a 2 but this happened on my friends bm, the release did not open the cap, it had some lock thing for the central lockin that had broke. so if the central lock was not (think a relay went) working then cap would not release...........plolly not whats happend with urs but if it is it could help.

Thanks for your replies guys, I have opened it for now by ramming an ice scraper under the lever then wrapping the ignition key in paper (to prevent scratches) and levering the flap gently open. I'll have to have a look over the weekend to find a permanent fix.
