Engine tidy up - step 1

Post by 2Crooky »

Thought i would start to "pretty my engine up" for JAE next month as the exterior of the car ain't exactly going to attract any attention! (appart from RedMR2's old white 17" Volks  )

Here she is so far after a little sanding, toothbrush work, and some autosol+elbow grease......

Good progress i think as it used to look like a fireplace!!

I thought to myself as i was beginning to polish the intercooler pipes "i really can't be ar$ed" but stuck with it and just got hooked on doing that little bit more! By JAE it should all look like new \:D/

Looks great mate. It shows you actually care, which is a refreshing change. You'd be suprised how many people 'make do'.

Top job! :thumleft:

Hi guys, anyone interested in polishing engines should try get hold of Peek metal polish. Its less abrasive than Autosol so gives a much nicer finish. You could start with the Autosol to get the surface something like then finish off with the Peek for a really mirror like finish.Or simply just use the Peek from start. Just thought it my be of some help for people who are into polishing there matal bits up :thumleft:

Also, once polished up dont use anything acid based or anything with caustic in. Engine degreaser of the gunk/Jizer type is fine though :thumleft:
