Just to let you know Helicopter rides around the track are available during and before the race.

Other hospitality includes bus rides to Mulsanne and Arnage, don't try and walk between the 2 as the back roads are a little dodgy in the dark, ie you might get your ass knocked over.!!

what route are we taking over there mike.

ive noticed a few groups on pistonheads are talking about a route along the coast then cutting inland towards roen, then along that famous bit of road (n185 or something) .........

or are we just heading down the motorways?

Sounds interesting, I lke the idea of driving the famous section of public road, not sure which road they mean, wondering if its the old Reims GP section, the old pits are still there and parts of the track. I'll investigate it more.

I was looking at a french road map last night, If you go straight out of boulogne & head south for rouen & then on down to Le mans, the majority of roads are motorway toll roads. Alternatively theres another route taking in the scenic route to Dieppe, Rouen & then to Le mans, dont know about being much further distance wise but they are ordinary roads with no tolls passing thru small towns along the way. Probably take ALL day to get anywhere & we'd probably get rather lost hehe, But no tolls.
S'pose the only problem here...... is if we're in convoy, whats the chance of losing someone?? Does anyone know where the camp site is?? We could all do with turning up there together.

we shouldnt lose anyone..... we've got the 4 walkie talkies at minimum so if we get the people with walkie talkies at the rear front and a couple in the middle we should be able to stay togeather.

I'll be taking my tom tom. So I will follow the convoy but if I do get lost I should be able to make my own way there. I do fancy a scenic route but I have never driven in france before so small french towns may be too much for me?

With regards to distance... put your route into google maps, that should give you a distance and journey time.

Pete.

Guys,

I'm going to have to head the quickest route to the Chateau as I've got loads to do once there. I've heard there's quite a few police with speed guns in and around the speed restricted towns so be careful if you decide to go that way.!!
Probably the best advice will be to decide which route you want to take, directly down the toll motorway, faster and less fuel but about £20 in toll fares or the slower but more interesting and scenic route through the towns, remember a lot of this road is single track, I took it the 1st year and got stuck behind trucks for miles.
I'm sure they will be a few people going either route and at the end of the day we'll all end at the same place.

Less than 2 weeks to go now.

The payage is not as expensive as you think. It's worth it for the time & driver .

A checklist would be good from some of the regular lemans hitters.

Just so us newbs don't forget something :thumleft:

It's getting close now and i want to make sure evrythings in order :thumleft:

What things are good to take for the campsite? Does anyone take a gazebo for those late night partys? are chairs a good idea (those ones with the beer holder lol )

Just not sure what to expect, a weeks a long time on a campsite so making it comfy would be nice.

Travel as light as possible and buy everything there, chairs, gazeboos, etc. Normaly we al chip in and just leave the stuff there. Top of the list will be the '' BAR BIN '' basically its a big cheap plastic bin full of water and ice for the beers..!!
