No need To get insulting earl.

There was remarks to track and tyres etc by lauren. The last paragraph was not aimed at you.It was just in general being as lauren mentioned budget tyres would be no good for track, which I actually agree with.

Yes so it's a V6tubby.Whoozy as not even mentioned if it will be a low blow set up or high boost application. If it is a low blow it will probably only produce 285-350bhp.

Also if you read the whole post you would realise that I only responded to a comment from toni saying basically that cheap tyres are crap, when that is not always so.

This is getting abit heated,I am going to bed to calm down.goodnight.

Nuttasie, your right, there was no need for that, and I apologise.

However, you are still not seeing the point. Yes, the engine may "only" make somewhere around 280-350 bhp, but can you imagine the torque?

Thats where a V6 excells. It's torque curve will most certainly be higher than it's power curve, making it potentially somewhere between 300-400ft/lb!

Now I drive a car with 360ft/lb of torque, and I know from experience, as it's driven on the road pretty frequently, that fittiing low budget tyres would make that car a potential death trap.

Period!

Only advice I can give is to go and try these slightly cheaper tyres (or budget if you would rather call them that) and give them a whirl, and then buy the higher end of the price range AS LONG as they are suited to your usage/power. I have been in a V6 turbo and all I can say is its MENTAL!!! I believe for my friends applications he found that "cut slick/drag" style tyres (the street legal ones yes) were the only tyres to give decent grip. I can find out what they are if you like???
They I know are not cheap, but they are damn good-he spent alot of time/effort and money testing different tyres for the road and came up trumps with these. You have to be carefull with the more expensive tyres only with the respect that they are more specific to how/where you use them and getting adequate heat into them can sometimes be a pita (maybe this is why some people find that budget tyres are just as good/seem just as good) 9/10 your tyres out perform your car therefore you have got tyres that need more power/different driving conditions.

Every application is different and no one is really going to be able to help over the net except give you recommendations of which tyre to try...it will be a long timeconsuming trial but you will get there in the end :thumleft:

Ducatichick - sounds like the T888s or A048s. Both excellent tyres. :thumleft:

I agree with ducatichick totally. She as stated everything I was thinking.

My initial point was not actually concerned with any engine application. It was just based on toni slating cheap tyres, when I have actually had some very good cheap tyres which performed as well or better than more expensive one's.

That is the only point I was trying to make ,but it all got out of hand etc :?

Yes mate,I hope so that is why I am also going down the same path once my rev 1 is sorted :D

I would imagine that whoozy is doing a low blow setup as there was no mention of uprated internals which is advisable if wanting more than 8psi on the 3vz-fe.
I know that a member on the V6 site is going to push the boundaries of these engines very soon, so it should have mental power with what he is planning. And it will be great to see what it is capable of.

Toni,I have already apologized to whoozy via PM with regard to the way this post as gone as I had no intention for it to end up like this.

OK fine, I didn't intend to slate anything! I just think why choose budget tyres when the car is obviously having a lot of money spent on it.

That's all folks. :thumleft:

Wow what a wierd post...

Surely common sence would prevail over tyres, they are what puts al your "power" and braking force on the road, if you have xxxx tyres you may as well drive a Lada!

Ok some budget tyres may well feel as good as perfomance tyres on a standard car, but they are not designed to cope with the kind of power real performance modifications can produce, nor the kind of lateral stresses heavy road or track use can produce in high speed cornering.

Personally I would not use cheap tyres on my pride and joy, Yes I have tried them, no i didnt like them. I would rather know that the rubber on my rims is upto the job at hand.
Fast isnt good enough, scary is acceptable. Terrifying preffered!!
