My New Steel Mist Gunmetal Turbo - UPDATE

Post by mattcambs »

Hi all. I Joined IMOC about 9 months ago and finally had the funds recently to buy a tubby. I Bought my 94 GTS from NVI and is in great condition.
Mods on the car already are:
Fujitsubo RM 01A exhaust (only weighs 8.7kg apparently!)
ARC induction kit
Carbing front and rear strut braces
Bilstein adjustable coilovers
Uprated LSD (don't know what make, but it is very aggressive, and strangely 1st to 4th gear are very close ratio with 5th being about right. Revs drop almost 1500rpm between 4th and 5th!)
Braided brake lines all round
Koito halogen headlights
Greddy boost gauge (on a dodgy carbon fibre look plate taking up most the stereo area!)
Momo Corse steering wheel

Pictures taken after the compulsory day spent cleaning new car inside and out, top to bottom :D

Thanks for viewing :thumleft:

Yes, white is an awesome colour for a 2, yadda, yadda, yadda!

When you do drive it just remember not to shift up to fifth unless you reached at least 4000rpm in 4th otherwise the engine will labour and try to stall due to my weird gear ratios. See below:

UPDATE:

Had the car at Rogue for a once over (who were fantastic - the rumours were true)

Matt spotted a couple of extra mods:

Carbing front, under-chassis brace (to go with the Carbing front and rear strut top braces)

TRD engine mounts

Matt confirmed uprated gear box - 2nd, 3rd and 4th are shorter and close together, 5th and final drive as standard.

I am replacing my knackered Bilstein coilovers with 2nd hand black Billies and Eibach springs. Chr15py is going to buy the coilovers from me if Bilstein UK are able to refurb them.

Can't wait to drive it once the suspension is sorted.

Nice car fella, took the same one for a test drive from Toms the Saturday before you bought it on the Sunday!

Good choice mate - crying out to be taken on the track! :thumleft:

Hi Andy,

The suspension is totally f***ed though! But, yes it is a bit of a beast, and must have had a fair bit spent on it previously. I don't know for sure but I wouldn't be surprised if the clutch and flywheel are uprated too as the clutch is very heavy and the engine revs pretty eagerly.

What did you think of the boost gauge mounting panel  Can't believe they rivetted it to the dash!

I bought the car knowing I'd have to replace the suspension eventually, just not quite so quickly.
