Over 25's insurance.

Post by Baker »

being 25 in june, ive been geting some quotes to see how much it reduces for the Mr2

Sod all!

I thought it reduces loads...and in fact, one quote from tesco's, it gets HIGHER!! ](*,)

Have they scrapped the rule for over 25's or is it now a higher age? :-s

It makes bu88er all difference IMO. There's no magic age barrier to cross that suddenly results in your premiums being halved. I'm 33 and i've never seen it!

WTF?!?! i thought insurance got cheaper when you get to 25! :x

please tell me you got that wrong! :| i was hoping to insure a skyline GTR when i get to 25 :-k

bl**dy f**king robbing b*stard insurance companies!!!

i only found out recently that if someone crashes into you (totally their fault) that you still have to claim to repair your car from your insurance.. thus losing your no claims bonus even though its totally not your fault you were involved in an accident. in which case you may aswell buy a 1.1 fiesta to drive around in for the next few years becoz you wont be able to insure s*d all due to having no no claims bonus all over again.. ](*,)

Its an urban myth to some degree. Insurance companies make it up as they go long is how i've always seen it. Obviously if you are say 30 it is going to be cheaper to insure a car than if you are 21, but by how much is another matter.

IMO the 25 years old barrier is a myth, something my dad talks about !!

From my experience to lower your premium you need NCB's, off road parking and limited mileage.

I am 26 4 years NCB (protected), 1990 N/A, off road parking - £450. Thats with 12,000 miles a year and business use. I use the car everyday circa 1000 miles a month. DIRECT LINE.

This is completely incorrect. Your insurance company will pay for the cost of the repair and then claim that money back from the other insurance company. The onl;y time this doesn't happen is if it is processed as a 50/50 claim or as your fault.

If the other person is at fault then you will still retain your no claims discount however at renewal time you will have to tell insurance companies that you have made a claim but that it was a no fault claim. That way they do not hold that against you.

I've had 5 accidents where I have made a claim in 17 years of driving all have been the other drivers fault and I have never lost my ncb or been charged extra because I was involved in the accident.

always been like this .... when i started with my first car, it was ... ooooh its cheaper with a couple of years driving experience, its always worst for the 17 - 21 year olds,

then it's .... no it'll go down when your 25 ....

then ... when your 30 you'll see the difference ....

just waiting for the ... oh, but when you reach 40 ... 50 ... 100 myths to appear !

Dont forget it all comes down to your post code. Where I live know my insurance has dropped by quite a bit of money compared to when I was in Tottenham.
