Engine fans including aluminium lid.
I have made mine and run it with no probs for quite some time now. This is the first test item which looks ok, but was really an experiment.
Can now make these to order.
£170 (single) or £150 each for a group buy.
The discoloured bit is where i rubbed on a bit of polish to try.
I'll take a pic of the painted one i have fitted now, tomorrow, and post it

Well when you put your hands over the engine lid and the fans are on your hand gets hot! They pull really hard and loads of heat comes out.
I had a lot of problems in the summer hitting the high temps and struggling for consistant power (I believe theres some form of high temp boost cut on the ecu, mine was only hitting 8psi at times), the reason for fitting the fans was to eleviate this. Although it didn't dissapear it made it masssively better. Occasionally I still got the cut in low gears, when being silly

Neat install mate, shame with the these fan kits that they only fit a turbo engine lid But good price though, considering what other retailer sell them at!

Re: Engine fans - anyone interested?
Do they run constantly or cut in on boost or other?
Re: Engine fans - anyone interested?
Sure they are cheap enough, but the fitment is nowhere near Rogues kit. I guess they both do the same job though and there is no denying that they move loads of air!. Just comes down to fit and finish - personally the Rogue ones look OEM, maybe they are too good?

Re: Engine fans - anyone interested?
Do the fans (on both kits) suck the warm air out of the engine bay, or blow cool air into it?
Mk2 NA Rev1 -*- Mk2 Turbo Rev2 -*- Mk1 NA -*- Mk2 Turbo Rev 3 = all gone!

They suck air out of the engine bay.

I tried mine on push and pull. Pulling air out works best.
They can be linked to any parameter you want with a bit of lateral thinking. Personally I would link them to the intercooler fan via a relay. That way they run off the engine bay temp sensor. You can add an overide cutoff switch and led in too to tell you when there on. I could supply any of this if requested.
I'll respond to the consumer........tell me what you wnat and i'll make em do it..................No 300bhp is out of the question!!!
Cheers jonno I wasn't guna mention rogue until now. Theirs is obviousely better quality but for what gain? At £150 you can have two of these. I don't want to slate rogue as they do well cool stuff, and I know that they don't make much money on their kits (not creaming the IMOC). So i'll stop there.
All im offering is a low cost alternative?
I did say that this was prior to finishing and was a test fit. I've been in the jan sales today so no chance of taking pics. I'll take one tomorrow and post it of the finished item. (its much more impressive)
If people want I can have them powder coated too? about £30 I expect.

Re: Engine fans - anyone interested?
Well since there was no minimum size specified a group can be defined as 2 or more people I presume.
Hey Shaf, fancy going in our own personal group buy of 2 to save 20 quid?? LOL

Re: Engine fans - anyone interested?
Well this post originated from a different post.
But I'll do em on the cheaper price for a group of 5.
If I can get the materials any cheaper I'll knock a bit more off.

Airflow through the engine bay is something that people quite often get wrong, but through experimenting you've discovered the correct method.
The MR2 is designed to pull air from under the car and out through the engine bay cover. This is particularly critical on the turbo models - you'll notice that one of the rear most plastic undertrays is shaped to divert air up and over the turbo itself.
Do you have any tech specs on the fans you're using? Are they Pacet?
Cheers,
Rogue
