I will contact Vix (new Mk1Club treasurer) and ask for some funds to produce some nice posters for our display boards. Steve (MR2 only)I will be contacting you shortly to see if you can give us a quote to print these up....

Tom - please don't go mad with my events budget 8-[
(last year total ~£100 inc tea & coffee for the helpers  )
Last time we did everything on A4, and the pics on A4 photo paper (asda budget stuff) and printed it at home (2x colour cartridges ~£60) so you get an idea of reasonable cost.
It may be cheaper for Steve to print it if less than above. Hope this helps.
(basically you just send all the recipts to vix for reimbursement)

This year it will cost more cause of (discount [-o< ) van hire

As for project,

I may have another mk1 by this weekend that could be used for something (have no idea of state or problems at the moment, but have confirmed I want it).

I'll know state by the weekend if we want to do something to it.

But the good news is i have a transit connect, :D :D :D its not huge but with the passenger seat folded down i can get 8-4 sheets in, so how big are your boards? this plus it has a tow bar also yeha and ive towed a 16 foot transporter with it so no probs there although i dont have access to a trailor no more, even with the boards in its amazing how much you can get in one of these vans

If van is not of use count me in as a helper, im not to bad with a spanner or with me gob  ,tools no probs trolly jack axle stands no probs.

Hey - just rereading the posts. good news re transit, but as the display boards are in loughborough it may be cheaper to hire a van in lough, than pay your petrol to come all way oop north and then back down again.

Maybe you have a word with mk1 chrsi and see which is best. :-k

People I took off the list as I think they can’t make it: (please amend if incorrect)

Anna
Alex
Lauren

 I really want the MR2 Only car on the stand, as it is great publicity for the club and vice versa for MR2 only.

 The organisers need to decide on the second car and a backup incase mr2 only’s car does not make it throught the MOT.

I will send the free passes etc on when I get them, but we will need to book further tickets when we know the exact numbers.
I will ask the mk1 club if they are happy to fund the extra genuine helpers if there are too many.

kaiowas wrote:I made a suggestion in the thread where engine swaps were being discussed that my car is due a front end rebuild (replace bumper bar and all the various associated fixings/bracketry) which we could do at the show. I've pretty much got all the bits now and am just waiting for some decent weather to have a bash at it.

If you feel it's a suitable project I can hold off on the work until then. I've also got bushes and braided hoses lying about somewhere that I never got around to fitting if we need any more jobs to keep people occupied.

3rd time lucky. I might get acknowledged this time. Seems a bit odd that people are saying "I might have a car by then and I'm sure when we can come up with some things to do on it" when i'm offering an actual restoration project and being ignored.

didn't mean to ignore you dude - it took me ages over lunch to cut and paste that long list together whilst lookin glike i was doing work-ish stuff.
i will edit the above list.
i completely agree that having a definate is better than a maybe, apart from the mr2 only project - which can potentially do the club some good.
(BTW - hope the move went well :thumleft: )

Limey: added you back on the list (thought you weren't coming - cool that you can :thumleft: )

Spoke to Kirsty - she would like to do the PR & organising the paperwork thing, and liasing with everyone. (pm her your addresses for postign tickets etc)

3-T's: need to choose and organise the car side of things (such as work to be done, parts, tools, logistics etc)

Kirst will sort out MK1 chris and transit

I will step down from running the thread now, and leave it up to the rest of you to agree on a plan :thumleft:

(oh yeah: organisers: - when we get the bookin gforms, we need to decide how many extra tickets to buy in advance)

Well the MR2 Only project car is booked in for MOT on the 17th Feb, so that should be plenty of time to get anything sorted in time for the restorations show, in the next week or so, I will have some track springs, the GT4 big brake kit (got that, just waiting for Si to re-drill the 4 stud holes) and a sponsor has kindly stepped in to provide us with all the engine service parts we need, car will also be liveried up as well. Fingers and everything crossed. As said before guys, im more than happy to sort out posters and display items, maybe the two mk1 articles that we have covered in two MR2 Only issues would be a good start, replacing the drop links, and rustproofing the mk1?? also a few photos of our project so far? as said Id do the artwork for nowt, and im sure the guys at work wont charge us much.

We've just done the decals for the side of an artic lorry for Yamaha at work today, and the large format exhibition stuff we do is pretty impressive, and Ive also installed a nice A3 colour laser next to my desk today :)

Ive another idea to throw in, im not sure if welding is permitted or if its a job that could be tackled at the show in a day, but we have two new skin sills, from CM fabrications that we no longer need for our project car, so if someone has holyer than thou sills, we'd donate them, so long as we could photo the fitting of them for the magazine (as we promised Craig Mallinson we would!)

Anyway just another thought.

I think Phils car needed sills too so it might be a good idea if his car makes it to the show.

I will direct him to this thread later, he is currently rolling under the car trying to fit a Mk1a ARB bracket to a Mk1b. Nice.

good to have you on board steve. :thumleft:
welding is allowed at the venue.

Liase with Kirst to sort everything out.
I will try and get you a high res club logo for the decals (was the one we sent you for the mag good enough?)

I'll tie up with Tom this weekend and see if we can make some decisions.

It's great to see all this interest in the event now :thumleft:

As stated already, for the benefit of the coverage we will get in MR2Only we'll get the project car on the stand and one other which I will start a poll for at the beginning of the week.
Anyone who wants their car considered please send me a PM by Sunday 11th 8pm.

Thanks

Ok, great folks, you know where I am, just give me a shout (and a little notice) of anything that needs doing printing or display wise, as mentioned before the sill skin option is there, we'd be happy to donate them so long as we photograph the fitting of them for the mag. mk1 project is booked in for MOT on 17th so fingers crossed, if its a fail, might need a little hand! :)

Hello all, again, just caught up with the thread again. Like the idea of kaiowas's bumper swap. A good job for a day, and gets the front impressively in pieces on the display. Could also do one blindfold, I think, done enough of em. (No Malcolm I'm not volunteering to try  )
Will bring a few hand tools along, sorry can't help with t'other stuff though.

Still March 11th isn't it?
