Restoration Show - **The AFTERMATH**

Post by mr2mk1chick »

Restoration Show
Sunday 11th March 2007
stoneleigh, warwickshire

HELP: I will be away on holiday when this years show is on, so need someone to take this on.

For details of the last years events see:

http://www.mr2mk1club.com/pastevs141.html

for those of you that helped last year, you will know what this involves, but here is a rough outline - the rest is up to you:

 The car/s have to have 'work' being carried out on them (don't need to be show standard)
 There needs to be informative display material to depict the work on the car & all about the club and club events etc.
 display boards, poss gazebo and flags need to be there
 you need a team of helpers (you get 10 free people passes in total)
 you need to book electric with the organiser if its needed (free)
 All the tools etc need to be brought

it is an indoor show, and to show the public everything about our cars etc.

Ideas from the last events were mostly to stick to one car, and perhaps do a straight engine swap, with the car brought on a trailer.

Any takers?.......
please drop me a pm and reply here too
Jo

Bump, I am perfectly willing to help out. But I don't really want to lead the event because I may already have too many events to organise (unless others step forwards to take these other events from me)

Is there no-one else willing to lead this? :?

The A team from last year. It was a really good event. And because of Jo and Garricks hard work (together with all the other people that turned up and helped) we won 2nd prize in the best stand competition! \:D/

I am happy to help out at the show and to organise.

However I think that the organisation of this event should really be led by a MK1 Club member.

If not hten let me know and I will undertake the task.

Might be able to help more this year as I won't be writing up. Plus I live five minutes away from Stoneleigh, so if i'm not busy i'm more than happy to help.
However, i'm not a mk1 club member (shhhh  I blame not being paid for 6 months! I'm skint!)... so that might be a problem!

I'm obviously not going to turn away offers from people just because they are not members.

Its a case of whether this event is worth going ahead with or not.

If MK1 club members CBA'sed, then maybe it can be an IMOC MK1 restoration stand TBH

either way - i am not here, so anyone can take this baby on if they wish.
i can help with the prep etc in the leading weeks if need be.

what do peeps think?

I will be around for the run up to this event, so can help with the display stuff and bookings etc, but can't supervise/organise the cars and people.

I will prob have to cancel thie unless there is an option before the end of January to be realistic.

Has anyone stepped forward for this yet?

I am happy to assist with the organisation but cannot undertake the full organisation, I have a lot on with work at the moment and my mother going into hospital again is making available time much harder.

nope - no other offers apart from you & Tom (chris is away)

to be honest, i've kinda resigned to the fact that this will not go ahead really, and CBA to push it.

Unless either you or tom are really desperate to go ahead, then i will cancel it. as i haven't even got a car in mind or a project to do.

(there was talk of straight engine swaps etc, but requires loads of forward planning etc)

i really appreciate both of you volunteering though =D> , but there will be other shows to help at too 8) (JAE.... )

Will be there for IMOC mainly - what with now being Committee, though will naturally help you guys set up again. Provided we have a nice shady corner for Geoff to sit in.

Look up a few posts :D

As I see it there are me, Tom, and Tiamat willing to help, but due to other commitments we all cant take full control. But between the 3 of us together i'm sure we could manage.

What do people think?

 sorry - was in a rush at work.

To put it in perspective, last year we had 10 people (inc me) for work on 2 cars. As well as you 3, you need more helpers IMO, to aid the work and chat to public etc.

but - if you all fancy the challenge then i will give full support where i can
plus we still need a car to work on (it can be a challenge car  )
