Guages

Post by Kipps »

Hi - I've got 3 aftermaklet gauges installed in my MR2 - Ones boost, ones oil pressure I think ( Increases to about 6 on the dial with use of the accellerator ) and the other I don't have a clue about - It flicks upto 15 / 16 on the dial when you turn the ignition on and stays there not really doing alot. Anyone any ideas of what it may be for ?

What does it read in? any pics?

Could be a variety of things, but without a scale you might aswell get rid of it. Oil/Water temp, Current, etc.

I'll get some pics tonight of it. Not sure what it reads in though without looking at it - Just its marked 1 - 16 on the dials.

did you test the voltage on the battery when the engine was running or just with ignition on?

with the engine off, voltage is around 11 - 12 volts, but when the altenators spinning it does kick out around 14 - 15 volts into the system, so it could well a voltmeter giving you this reading?

Just a thought.

Sorry the dodgy quclity pic, its the guage on the far left that I don;t know what its showing. Its units according to the dial are x 10 degree C but I don;t think its showing a temp of some kind as it moves around alot

Oil temperature? Does change a bit, unlike water temperature. Although 150-160 deg C would be far too hot, it should be something like 85-105 deg C (judging by the one on my VW Golf).
