Rev 3 turbo

Post by Tom Solan »

The engine is built to make 600 HP. All it needs is a boost controller and charge cooloer. Everything else has been done.

if you are not going bigger than 540 injectors then you dont need a rev 3 conversion, just a unichip. That will save some money. You can get 400fbhp out of 540's

Tom Solan is highly regarded on IMOC FYI. It says on the advert that it has a hand made intercooler so yes it does have some sort of aftermarket setup. He is suggesting a CC would be a better setup and allow you to get more from the engine. Not many people have near £7k for an MR2, that's probably why its not sold yet.

To get 300 whp, you'll need to run it at 1.2 bar, probably need water cooling with your IC, and an uprated fuel pump with your 540s, and a bl00dy good map!

Mate, best thing to do is think about the long term. As a std package the rev3+ cars are an advancement over the rev1/2 otherwise there would be no re3+ cars! Although some might argue that they are different more than anything else.

BUT............if you see yourself getting the tuning bug big time then save yourself 2k and keep your rev1. EVERYTHING that differentiates a rev1 from a rev3 will be replaced anyway if you go that way.

If you do.........

manifolds
turbo
ecu
fuelling
cooling
rebuild/uprated internals
suspension
brakes

.....then in the long term youve wiped everything off the car anyway that you paid out for in the first place.

Like someone else mentioned, the fastest cars are rev1s. thats because most of those guys probably also realised there's no point in buying extra parts which will be coming off the car anyhoo.

Personally, cant stand driving rev3s. Too smoother and progressive for me. I prefer an old school hit.
