Had the t-bars out today!

Post by Mark Edwards »

Apart from the performance, now i remember why i got this car. Had the t-bars out for the first time this year, didn't get much time to enjoy it as it was only a 30 minute drive in my lunch break. I pity those of you that have tin tops. :( Can't wait for a day off now!!

Heh, I had my last drive around in the Turbo today before passing it on to the new owner.

I turned up at his house with the T-Bars out. Top driving weather .. :D

So, I'm now driving the MK1 - And because its an early model it only has a Sunroof, not T-Bars :?

Its going to be really really odd not having the Tubby around - I've had some great times with the car since I bought it back in July '98.

The Mk1 is fun in a different kind of way - I find I've got to watch my speed much more in the MK1 than the Turbo as the engine in the mk1 is always egging you on to wind it up.

Its odd having to drop a cog when you want to make swift progress, but the sound of the engine near redline makes up for it ;)

Its just a shame on a day like today not to have T-Bars - taking them out, dropping them into the boot or passenger footwell and dropping the windows is a great feeling when you're driving some nice twisty roads.

What I've really got to do next is to track down a decent Roadster of the spec/age I'm looking for and then talk to a man about a turbo kit to add to it - I should be back with similar power/weight ratio as the Tubby then, in a lighter car which should sharpen up the handling ..
