central locking problem

Post by stuyw »

Hi,

Seem to have got a problem with the central locking as the drivers door doesnt lock with alarm or when the 'door lock' button is pressed in the car. The only way i can lock the car is with the key.

The lock inside the car only moves a fraction of an inch, whereas the passenger one moves as normal.

Any ideas on this as i thought it may of been the central locking motor in the door????

cheers

Stu

I have a similar problem except that's the passenger door and it wouldn't unlock. As yourself, the lock inside the car only moves a fraction of an inch, whereas the driver's one moves as normal.

I took the central locking unit out of the car and found that a mechanical linkage had broken. The electric's were working correctly. The only way to fix it was to put in a replacement unit.

It's quite straight forward to take the unit out to check it.

I don't know it that's any help for you...

Yeah, I can only move the drivers side switch a fraction of an inch, but when I lock the door with the key the switch moves all the way (like it should).

All of this seems like some sort of safety feature to keep yourself from locking the keys inside your car.
