Rev1 turbo engine - the secret of that time was the 60ft which was an incredible 1.1 apparently. Shame it couldn't be replicated, best I saw after that from the pink car was a 13.4!

 Nothing wrong with the timing gear just the complete and utter unprofessionalism of the Santa Pod officials. I have seen a video of the run and it's fairly clear what has happened.

I feel so sorry for them both, because it would have been a fantastic run in any case!

Jay,

Watch this one. You'll probably understand then....

If I was Emma I would write to Santa Pod and complain and ask for my money back.

The official blocks the staging lights by leaning on them. :-k
She was still rolling...accounts for the 60ft I guess. Still would've been a v.good time.

Watch the official to the right of Penelope. At first he is wandering around aimlessly. Then Penelope must have over-staged. Instead of allowing Emma to reverse back into deep stage, he suddenly starts walking towards the staging beams and puts his right foot in front of it. After Emma leaves the line he takes his foot out of the way.

Totally unprofessional, everyone's been cheated

It's absolutely disgraceful

I feel so sorry for Emma. It would have been a great time and they've been cheated.

Ahh
that explains it then.
even the 8.8 sec car did not get a 60 ft time like that, so something had to be wrong. I didn't look at that bit on the slip on the day.
Even so her other times still make her the quickest.

I saw the timing guy do this a number of times when cars over-staged, and they couldn't be bothered to bring the cars back.
I guess they thought it would not make much difference on what they presumed would be a slow mk1. how wrong to do that.

I feel sorry for Emma, but hope she is still happy with her other times.
well done =D>

her slip also shws her having the slower reaction time than the other car, but clearly she gets away first - so i 'guess' the guy was slow to take his foot away. :-k
