Sounds good to me, Tis what Im using and it works well, think (but will probably get slated) The wider the back the better, but you dont really want wider than 215 on the front. What size rim?

205/40/17 and 245/35/17 would keep the same rolling radius as stock 15's
but thats too big of a difference you may think?
well, on that particular size (205/40/17), its only a guide - 205mm minimum, the toyo T1R for instance in that size is actually 219mm wide

i say your only real options are
7j and 8j

front
215/40

rear
235/40
245/35
245/40 (this will send out speedo a tiny bit more, but nothing to worry about, i might go this size next)

Is it for an MR2 Draven?

Does any one know if 245 is ok in a 7.5" wide wheel?

I wouldn't go for that. 245s on 17x8"+ IMO

i thought the rears should be 245/35 to maintain stock rolling radius? Has anyone physically measured th distance of both options and compared with stock :-k

A 40 wall will give slightly better comfort I suppose...

obviously they have otherwise we wouldnt be suggesting a 245/35 instead of the usual same wall height all round.
(ie 40 all round).....

245/35 is closer to stock as your gona get on 17s with a 245 tyre...
