Has anyone got a step by step guide for the ABV mod (complete with some nice pics).
Simple enough for someone who cut the roof off his MR2 to follow
Maybe stick in on the Knowledge Base
Marc,
There are a few ways of doing it. The way I did it was to make a blanking plate and sandwich it between the ABV and the pipe. Simple as that!

I have used Tom's diagram for my blanking plate and can confirm it is a good method to go with.
Whilst I had all the ancilleries (sp?!) out of the way for installing the blanking plate I changed the supercharger oil as there was easy access, this might be worth considering?
Also someone over on the SC forum knocked out a number of blanking plates. I was going to get one, but then thought to myself "Why? The ABV mod had already been done..." Who knows exactly how on our car as it was already done when we bought it, but it seems to be working fine

The reason is Garrick, that equalising the pressure by swopping VSV lines around is not the best way to do it. For example Mark found by blanking his ABV off and removing it from teh equation entirely that he made more boost than he did with teh VSV lines equalised. There is potential for leakage when you swop the VSV lines around, there isn't when you simply blank off the ABV.
boost pressure is vented off above 8psi, so when you fit a big pulley you need to stop this because otherwise you'll vent all that extra boost generated to fresh air.

Just need to know where the ABV is to fit the plate.
SC Forum ??? not come across this yet
SC forum....
PM me if you want to know about it. Basically a private forum for all things SC.

MMMmmmm... I think a mini bearding session is due on the SC soon. Purely to figure out what's been done and what parts are on it

I was thinking about this the other day before the thread, but 'guess' you can check whether the mod has been done by putting on a boost guage somewhere temporarily to see how mush boost there is, therefore the likelihood of a blanking place.....maybe

Jo, the mod's been done one way or another. There's no way on earth your car would produce a 14.7second 1/4mile if it hadn't.
