Mr2 turbo prices

Post by blueorb »

Why is there such massive differences in mr2 turbo prices?

I have seen similar cars '91-'93 ranging from as little as £2,000 up to £5,500.

I am I being unrealistic in wanting a gt turbo '91-'93 grade 3.5 - 4 for around the £4,000 mark?

I have recently spoken to a couple of guys on this site who are importers who's prices are in the upper limmit of £5,500, yet other importers have sugested £4,000 to be realistic.

Advice please?

Depends mate. Importers incur extra costs for getting the car imported, UK conversions etc.

4K should get you a nice 92-93 Rev 2 Turbo in the UK! It's when you look to getting a fresh import that prices rise.

I spoke with Bob from

http://www.risingsunimport.com/pages/4/index.htm

He assures me his cars are top notch, but his premiums are a little higher than i really wanted to spend. Is it worth perhaps waiting, saving a little more and buying from Bob, or trust another importer such as

http://www.topspec-imports.com/jap_contact_us.htm

who say they can get me what I want for £4,000.
I am very confused and don't know which way to go?

not had dealings with top spec, but bob has supplied me/supplying me with 2 '2's. (see bottom one and top one on his site). I honestly dont think he is that expensive.
I think you will easily be able to get a rev 2 tubby for 4 g's. 5500 is a hell of a lot for a 93.
As red says tho, its not really worth importers getting cars in that retail at less that 4 grand, as they make little or no profit, hence why they're quoting 5500.

The price really does reflect on the car. There are alot of cheap Turbo cars on the market and when I had a look I had to realise that they were cheap for a reason. =;

I was looking for a A1 showroom car with no skeletons in the cupboard, and theres no way I could find a cheap one unless it had a hidden history or it needed new parts due to neglect or wear and tear. Low milers with excellent bodywork and performance inhanced extras can fetch good money if done properly and rightly so as theres nothing out there for the same amount of money on the market that can offer those looks and performance. \:D/

I was prepared to pay more for an up-graded modified car in A1 condition with low mileage . 8)

Tur80,

Where did you get your car from in the end?

Private seller, or importer?

Couldn't find what I wanted from private sellers and independant dealers weren't particularly good either so I went to an Importer and told them exactly what I was looking for and my budget. You don't have to do it this way, its just I'm a bit fussy and wanted a nearly perfect car. \:D/

Overall it took around 3 months to find my Tubby and have it delivered to the uk, UK converted, registered on the UK road, MOT etc.. etc.. I'm very happy with this car and the performance is just excellent. :D
