you can buy overlays that slide in over the speedo and display your speed in mph

Just divide whatever speed is on the speedo by 1.6. You get quite good at it after a while..

Get the speedo converted to MPH

Or

10 kilometers = 6.21371192 miles
20 kilometers = 12.4274238 miles
30 kilometers = 18.6411358 miles
40 kilometers = 24.8548477 miles
50 kilometers = 31.0685596 miles
60 kilometers = 37.2822715 miles
70 kilometers = 43.4959835 miles
80 kilometers = 49.7096954 miles
90 kilometers = 55.9234073 miles
100 kilometers = 62.1371192 miles
110 kilometers = 68.3508311 miles
120 kilometers = 74.5645431 miles
130 kilometers = 80.778255 miles
140 kilometers = 86.9919669 miles
150 kilometers = 93.2056788 miles
160 kilometers = 99.4193908 miles
170 kilometers = 105.633103 miles
180 kilometers = 111.846815 miles

And that is as fast as a Jap car goes with the limiter!!!

when i had my speedo conversion done, it cost £120 for the unit and fitting. this calulated the difference and changed the speedo from 180knh to 180mph.

Pete Mason has the mph overlays on his sc and he has found that it is about 10mph out,so if that is the case with all overlays,i think it's better to stick with kph.
You get to learn kph andi feel ,that is better than a car that is 10 mph out.
I'm sure it will vary a lot at different speeds.

when the cars are imported they have to be changed to read in mph.
they put something in the speedo line that timeses the signal by 5/8ths.

errrr, how come nobody else has said this?

cars arent road legal unless they read in mph..... right? :?

both of my imports, and all others ive seen read in mph.

My sc obviously came in with kph and it was never changed.
Some people say it has to have it changed but i was pulled up early last year and they didn't worry about it being in kph!
It has now gone through 2 mots with no problem,so why worry about it!

I have seen many over mr2's still in kph so are you sure kph is illegal?

SVA'd cars must read in MPH. Non SVA'd dont have to. (imported within first ten years of registration of vehicle)
Legally, you can read either. Think kit cars, or evn better, european cars.
If you are changing it over, make sure it is right, otherwise, the SVA people get arsy.
