THE TURBO FINALLY GAVE UP ON ME

Post by Nick Bryant »

The oil seals have been on there way for the last couple of weeks so ive been taking it easy primarily until last night a lot of snow on the ground decided to have a bit of fun in a private car park (sainsburys) after about 10 mins of drifting and 3ft flames  pop goes the turbo completely :( , the amount of smoke that came out the back was unbeleivable any way what is the most likely cause of the oil seals starting to go in the first place i gutted my cat 2 months ago could that be the cause.

Sometimes the back pressure from a downpipe or a decat can cause an old turbo to go bye bye especially if its seals are gone!

Believe me , mine was so covered in oil you could hardly see the turbo itself!
oh and my bearing was gone cost me a bomb to get fixed :x

Doesn't running your car with a "going" turbo do any damage to the engine?
