'05 wrx sti

Post by revturbo »

just had straight line race against a "lightly" modified 05 impreza, must say it was from 40 to 70ish and i gained on him very slighty. i was expecting him to kick my a$$, as i thought these were 300bhp+ with his exhaust and whatever else he had under the bonnet?

Never had a problem dealing with Scoobies, gotta remember a 4WD 300bhp Scoob wont be as quick as a 300bhp MR2 due to trans losses and weight etc

Thats true unless the Scooby is one of the earlier classic shaped Type-Rs or RAs. With their shorter gearing they are monstrous!

Wasnt a problem either :) A work collegue had a 97 Type-R 2 door with increased boost and other bits and bobs, my car back then was running with std boost and only a decat and exhaust. They were neck and neck all the way to about 130mph then I'd start pulling away.

Funnily enough he sold the car 2 days after that for an Evo 7.

sorry, but most of that is non-sense.

300bhp scoob will beat a 300bhp MR2 any day on any test other than top speed. MR2 will hit around 165, scoob will hit around 158. The scoob will hit 60/100 and 1/4 mile quicker too.

Oh, and the 2000 "classic" scooby weighs the same as the MR2.

Anyone who has a 280bhp MR2, I know a 280bhp Scoob you can put your money where the proverbial is if you fancy?

Fun? Fun is 4 wheel drifting round roundabouts pointing towards the centre not fighting snap oversteer and entering wet roundabouts wondering if you will get out the otherside!!!

Absolute b0ll0cks mate. I've taken on 6 scoobs since owning my MR2 and not one of them has came even close. I assume all of them have been standard as my 2 is only pushing around 250bhp. Don't really care what or who you know, i know what i have done in my car. Granted it was only on the M74 which is a straight motorway with no cornering as i know i would get creamed but i certainly kicked the xxxx out of those scoobs on the straight, they seriously weren't even close and before you start the usual "they weren't trying" crap it was them that tried it on with me, every time. I'm not one to go looking for a race but i'm not shy of taking one on if the road is straight and clear. Had a go with an evo 5 too. That was MUCH closer but after 110 it was cheerio.

Theres a vid on here of a modified 2 around 280bhp (i think, may be 300) getting the same time as either a P1 or Type-r in a circuit with the same driver. Straight line driving the 2 wins it fly power against fly power, no contest.

Look at it this way, the scoob manages 5.1 to 60 with awd, the rev3 manages 5.2 to 60 with rwd IMO that automatically makes the MR2 faster as it has less grip yet manages to post almost the same 60 with the right conditions. 1/4 times for the scoob aint impressive either when they are standard, 13.8??? Standard rev2's beat that lol

Funny you say that...i destroyed a dyno proven 300BHP Rev 3 Tubby. And having owned both a 325BHP Tubby and 325BHP-360BHP RAs, the RA's are certainly much quicker all the way to 150 odd!

hmmmm, i always figured a scooby would beat a 2 due to its 4WD (additional traction- less wheelspin off the line etc) :?

will be keeping an eye on this thread :)

I already said the MR2 would win top speed! Least you could read my post.

You would certainly not beat this Scoob with your 250bhp, there's just no way. I have owned both, the Scoob is just faster. MR2 wheelspins, the Scoob does a full throttle dump clutch launch and hits 60 in around 4.4. 100 comes round in 11.8, 1/4 in 12.8 top speed's 158 genuine. Sorry, but you wouldn't make those times with a 250bhp MR2, not without slicks, light internals, 4 wheel drive, a boxer engine...

see where this is going?

Well the times for a UK 05 STI WRX aint even close to what you are posting mate

0-60 is 5.1 not 4.4 the only one that manages anywhere near that 60 in the uk is the WR1 with a 4.1 60 but that has the trick gearbox from the Type-r

the quarter mile is high 13's standard so where your getting your figures from i have no idea.

I don't think that is going to be true. If you ran the 300bhp scoob against a 300bhp tubby the scoob would only win the 0-60 dash.

The tubby would catch the scoob by the quarter mile as 60-100mph the tubby would have an advantage - less transmission loss+aerodynamic advantage+ lighter (approx. 1.3t vs 1.4t)

What he posted isn't that unbelievable - it wasn't a dragstrip start after all.

I've raced 300+bhp Scoobies at Crail raceway and beaten them :

Aint hard to do, even from a standing start.
