Have been to see how my little car is getting on and have to say its coming along nicely.

I expect to post finished pics anytime soon. for the meantime here's the car in varying states of primer:

N/side arch primed and ready for painting

there's always something you haven't bargained for. My n/side front arch was rotting away where it met the sill:



Here you can see that i'm bringing the black paint higher than it would be as standard as i think this sets the contrast of the black and red off better. the diffference is subtle though. The stonechip paint isn't the final finish, the whole section will be painted then finished off in satin black to define the sills:



This is the car i'm using as a template to base what my car should turn out like. This is actually Mark (my boyf's) first car:



the whole front valance is being resprayed and the holes in the o/side front have also been repaired:

Looking great! the repairs look spot on lauren however i hate it when these places dont take time to mask stuff up properly and get overspray all over your wheel arch liners/brakes and anything else thats in the way,takes 2 minutes to mask off,a sign of lazyness,nobody wants oversprayed plastics.



Looking really good though and should be lovely when painted,as a painter myself the overspray thing is just a personal nark of mine, i always take time to make sure the only thing that gets paint on it is the panel.

Yep its coming along nicely. Just found out today though that they can't fit the early engine vent i aqquired as they need the mounting plate as apparently its different from the later one. I had one and chucked it doh!

So might have to cope with the late engine vent until i can source another one.

Don't think i'll be selling it for a while tbh, though i'll bear you in mind if i do.. 1.5-2K sound ok?

Looking good, but have to agree with Mr Woods on the lack of masking. A bit sloppy that. Nothing looks worse IMHO than all the screw heads and washers overpainted. That said maybe that will be sorted out before you take delivery.

nope,you can just modify the late bracket...the late mounting bracket can be used but it just requires the two tabs that have the screw holes in bending outwards and two fresh screw holes drilling,ive done this many times and is a 5 minute job.

I've not known you to care about paintwork on your track cars
Then again who cares about your rust when your passing them on the exit with a nice rear end slide Oh I forgot this ones a N/A maybe you can pass them on the brakes then

Another one to agree with Mr Woods, it's one thing that bugs me as well, overspray into arches. Somethign I always look for when buying a car as well. Saying that, looks a nice job on the rest of it though.

Also agree on the side vent frame mod. Did that to mine when i fitted an early vent to my MK1b

yep its going to be my daily driver so will see mainly road use with the odd track day here and there.

Think all the bodywork is done, its just the painting to do now. Don't worry i'll get the NA going a fair rate of knots round the track i just won't brake for the corners!

Well i think it will go a couple of hundred over that as they've done a bit more work ie there was work to the front wings and both had to be resprayed too. Have already fitted MK1b (revs are for MK2s!) brakes and removed the shrouds.

Have a few more pics from today, when the car had just come out of the paintshop so pre-buffing and before the black is added to the sills/bumpers:







Hopefully they will have finished doing the satin black stuff by tomorrow!

It came with the car. I think its just a custom ie made up for the car. Its in stainless and has a small silencer before the main one just like the stock system.

I'm going to keep it because i prefer a single exit pipe and its nice and quiet, sort of similar in noise levels to a magnex.

Providing i get the MOT then it ought to be. I need to get it sorted as borrowing the in-laws van at the mo'.

Though i'll be slightly tight on time to get it all sorted next week. Obviously i'll try!
