bit strange!

Post by Fonzy »

I have noticed to day a funny thing! maybe someone has had the same, when i jack up my car and turn the drivers side back wheel, it totates easy for most of the rotation, then gets nearly imossible to complete the turn, then it goes easy again! now it not in gear, although i dont have any oil in there yet, and i do have a lsd, so i do have both wheels off the ground, and they both turn togather. Is this strange? i also notived that the drivers side drive shaft prevents the spring pushing down the wheels as mucg as it does on the passenger side, i dont recal all these funny things from before i removed the engine, and im wandering if i dont something wrong when re-installing, i canr visually see any reason for these strange things, any ideas please pop em up here, thanks

both wheels will turn in the same direction if you have an LSD. Perfectly normal.

i am fully aware both wheels will turn, but i wasnt expecting there to become a stage in the rotatation when things got quite hard to turn, then suddenly easy again as if it where in gear, but its definateky out of gear. :?

You can't have put the engine back together again correctly. Strip it all out and start again.:D:D:D:D:D

ok, on the MK2s are the brake discs secure when you take the wheel off?

also could there be a little runout on your disc or heaven forbid they are slightly warped?

warped disc is sounding most likely at the moment mate? can you hear the pad touching the disc at all when it starts to stop (does that sound right?!)

dunno if thats of any use.

I had a tight mechanical LSD on my old REV 2 and the rear wheels were always difficult to turn.
I never worried about it and the car ran fine.

If you want to check for disc runout just setup a dial gauge on the disc.
