Pics from Rolling Road day at Geoff Bloor's, Nottingham

Post by Icsunonove »

Six of us were invited last minute to make up the numbers at someone else's rolling road day. Fred (Flitzer), Doris (Doris), Jo (MR2Mk1Chick), Garrick (System-G), Chris (Unleash) and me all attended.

Yet again Fred and Doris's cars came out on top =D> with the "Flitzer" (Fred's car) even outperforming Doris's (which was the most powerful NA last time at StreetRacers). Show's that a bit of TLC pays dividends!

Some pics:

Richard (the organiser) brought his Mini Van TURBO!

Fred wrote all the figures down but from memory I *think* the figures were something like:

Fred (Flitzer) 131 bhp
Doris (Doris) 125 bhp
Jo (MR2Mk1Chick) 111 bhp
Garrick (System-G) 114 bhp
Chris (Unleash) 116 bhp
Tom (Icsunonove) 176 bhp

It was interesting because some of these cars (not mine) also attended the StreetRacers Rolling Road day, so it interesting to see whether the figures were comparative (which they were). I was very surprised (happily) with my figures! :P

That Mini was putting out 133 bhp last time it was Rolling Roaded. Unfortunately today it wasn't running properly. It really is a wolf in sheep clothing (and I love it)

hate to tell you speedy, that Tom's figure were without NOS! =D> =D> =D>

The figures tom quoted were spot on from memory. Even better was the fact that we didn't do too bad compared to the Cruise Luff cars that were there. Goes to show that 20-ish year old cars aint too bad (but we knew that didn't we  )

Glad mine has gained approx 30 horses just by bolting the exhaust on properly and tweaking the FSE valve down a bit
It also drove much better on way home - lots more torque by sorting some of the overfuellling issues a little bit. Hope my petrol consumption improves a little now.

Coolio, looks good for when our car actually starts using 4 cylinders instead of 3 then :)

Tom, cool. If only we had known and it hadn't been last weekend would have been nice to pop down and see Geoff.

I see Karl is doing the operating (in the mini-pic)... For those that don't know 5 years ago when i had my first MK1 Geoff did most of the tuning work on my car and it was a frequent visitor to the rollers.

Tom, mine managed 182bhp. ;)

Jo, did Geoff setup your fuel press regulator for you?

Tom didn't get to know about RR till v.late - I was asked by the 'cruise' guys to go along  They needed few more peeps, so i thought it was a good oppo for mk1 takeover time, hence not advertised on IMOC - sorry
will maybe do something there again poss

Geoff mostly did the in-car bit and Karl seemed to do most of the setting up. Karl & myself just did a very quick bit of adjustment to the FSE valve ie - checked the pressure with the vac guague. the pressure was waaay to high, so reduced it to 2bar, and then just bunged the car on the rollers. not any real 'tuning' so to speak. besides - most of my power is being lost thu a dodgy gear box and diff

Was the first time i met Geoff - he seems a really nice bloke (bit quiet unitl we got chatting) Karl seems very eager with tuning - apart from he HATES MK1's :(

GLOL.... yep Karl always used to wind me up about my car whenever i was up there. nice guy though.

Yep Geoff is pretty quiet but once you get him talking you are in so to speak. I became good friends with Geoff over the years and even went to Monza on the back of his ducati to see the superbikes.

Ask him about his velocette and/or his mini-racing and cadwell park and you'll be sorted. ;)

It's at the wheels that counts Lauren, what did you get? (Don't get me started about Rolling Roads and their unfeasible transmissions losses! )

Thats a point, isn't it like against your religion or something to be caught using a RR Tom?

err i don't believe for one second that your output was @the wheels.

mine was 126@ the wheels.182@flywheel...

though we all know that @the wheels figures are meaningless.
