First insured my Mk1 Supercharger with Houghton Insurance on 19th November 2003.

I was 34, 10 years or more no claims, no points on my licence.

Terms were:
5000 limited mileage
Private driveway or garage
Two named but low risk drivers.

Car was second car, not primary use.

I was delighted at the premium of

£165.

Received a renewal for the following year

(beginning 19th November 2004) for

£206

(an increase of 25% in one year).

Decided not to renew as I left the car off the road over the worst part of winter.

Phoned today at lunchtime to renew insurance because my car is going for M-O-T tomorrow.

Expected to be given a quote there and then.

No way! Three phonecalls later and at about 5.15pm I finally got a premium.

It was

£296.

That is an increase of 79% in 15 months!

I know that compared to some young drivers with a really powerful Mk2 this may be a ridiculously low premium to moan about.

However I have three cars and it all mounts up!

Is this still a good deal or should I have gone somewhere else?
