Spring National Restoration Show

26th March 2006, Stoneleigh (Indoor Event)

The MR2 MK1 Club aim to have two restoration project cars on display at this ‘hands-on’ event. The cars will be examples of ongoing projects such as a track car restoration/conversion and a concourse show-car restoration.

This practical restoration show offers the ideal opportunity for MK1 owners to pop along and see first hand basic maintenance and project work on the cars. This is a rare chance to see ‘tinkering’ on the stand and get a real idea of ‘how-to’. If you have any burning technical questions, or are unsure of how to start some work on your own MK1 then you can come and chat everything through with MK1 technical advisors on the stand. They will be able to explain things with the added benefit of having a MK1 handy to demonstrate what you need.

We also aim to have technical display boards and photos to demonstrate some of the more difficult projects and restoration issues.

The club shop will also have the usual items for sale on the stand.

OK guys - we now have two project cars: a track project car and a concourse restoration project car.

 There will be some restoration / mechanical work being done on these cars during the day - so come and see some 'how-to' demos.

:-k If you are stuck with some work on your MK1, then pop to the show show the advisor chaps can talk you through stuff having a car handy to point out what they mean.

it is the ideal opportunity to pick their brains :eye:

Woohoo really looking forward to this now.

We have a great bunch of knowlegable people on the stand as technical Advisors:

Tom (icsunonova)
Chris (limeymk1)
Kev (crazylegs)
Tony (tony jinxy froude)
Jon Leech (JLeech)
John Redmond (JohnR)

Chris (Unleash) is displaying his car - currently being restored for more of a concourse type car and my car currently being restored for track use.

Chris's car will be having lower ball joint and bushing work done to it and mine will be having a fair bit of brake work (rear discs/pads & S/S braided hoses) as well as possibly getting valve clearances sorted.

Kev (crazylegs will be bring a spare head and bits for Chris (LimeyMK1) to demonstrate setting valve clearances if we can't get the time to do it on my engine.

Visitors are welcome to visit the stand to view the work being carried out and speak to any of the techies about virtually anything MK1 related 8)
I wouldn't even say that it's only of interest to MK1 members, but MKII and III as well due to the similarities between the cars

Hope to see a few IMOCers and others too 8)
