Brian... just realised it may be easier for you to meet us at the Church Mouse pub, just past chester le street, we're meeting there for 9.15 then travelling down to scotch corner and across....

Directions from Newcastle:
Come off the A1 at chester le street and exit the round about to take the old a1 (a167) to durham... a few miles up the road (watch out; its all noddy 30-50-30-60-40mph zones here) the Church Mouse pub is on your left hand side of the dual carriageway, immediately before a big roundabout, as you go through chester moor.

I think me and Anne will tag along.

Red mk2 T-bar turbo.

Perhaps we two and Ancient Mariner can teach you young-uns how to grow old disgracefully. :D

slight change of plans for me and stu, instead of going upto scotch corner we are heading straight over to penrith travelodge so no need to wait for us at scothc corner.

C'mon people. What happenend? I met up with a few at the Church Mouse, Greg and his lovely wife (Jean?) took the Ferrari, Maserati and their two daughters. John in his 3SGTE Mk1, with vidcam setup in cab so looking forward to some avi files. Forgot the name of the Scottish guy in the MK1 SC who could not go, but need his handle if someone can let me know.

Did everyone meet up at Scotch Corner? How many turned up? What route did you take and how did you rate it, cause Im sure Blue2 or possibly GTech will be wanting to do a run later in the year, hopefully several.

Wish I had of gone now. Im sure my car could have waited another weekend for a service.

Hello,

Just got back, superb day, 19 MR2's a Ferrari and a Maserati. Day was dry and sunny with some slippy ice in the shaded valleys. We did two routes with a break for lunch in Keswick. Leaving the Penrith first for a fast run then off down some valleys, ice, streams of water flowing over the roads, twistie turnie lanes dodging joggers on a road race...I think I got into third once or twice! Second gear got hammered! I was rear guard and the car was in the slip stream of some hot smelling brakes, and burnt optimax!
After lunch a run via Ambleside and the Kirkstone pass, I remember a sign saying '1500' summit, do not attemp in Winter conditions' (hot brakes and 25%+ inclines, first and second gear all the way in the climb)I belive a tubby got some 'air time' over one of the dips... Then to Pooley Bridge along the banks of Ulswater, a stop for a pint (shandy) in a warm pub then home.

I'll post some pics later.

The best mr2 meet I have been to.

Superbly organised by Mac with printed route and maps for all.

The sight of 19 mr2's flying up a twisting, turning, ear poppingly climbing unclassified road (locally known as "the struggle") to Kirkstone pass will live long in the memory

As will 19 MR2's over running a small Keswick BP station. :D

Great day, great crack with like-minded errm eccentrics.

Hi folks... excellent day!

Got a dozen or so pics to upload tonight and some camera footage of the morning route and most of the afternoon.

I was fortunate/unfortunate to miscalculate the mpg of my 1.5 and so had to fill up at Penrith (took 10 minutes to fill up and pay!) and just missed the convoy as they headed out on the morning route... I was about 4-5 minutes behind, but as luck would have it I managed to get past all of the traffic in front of me on the morning route and had a virtually clear run all the way round (the route around the back and then up the pass was just bliss... not a car on the road!!!)... I think I only saw about 5 oncoming cars and not a single one in front of me! What a spot of luck!

The footage of the morning run seems very good - it's like I have the entire road to myself :lol ... I haven't had a chance to see the afternoon footage including Kirkstone Pass, yet - but it should be pretty good.

Weather also held for most of the day and was clear and sunny most of the time. What a great day!

So thanks to Mac and everyone else who helped out .. I hope we have another one soon \:D/

PS. Who was behind me as we set off home? I had a bit of a sideways moment going up the hill!
