Ignition timing Mk2T

Post by nutter »

Hi,

When i was having my cylinder head repaired the guy took my distriduter off. He didn't mark it though :(. Is there any way i can set the timing roughly so at least i can start the car. Then i can time it properly using the light.

... you mean the complete mechanical dizzy?

Its got locating lugs in it so it can only come out / go on in a particular way - the ECU will sort itself out.

Timing wise, if its at idle you can fairly much just slap the dizzy back on, link T1 and Te1 and set the timing back to 10deg btdc . Don't drive it or put the engine under load though

Just go to halfords and pick up a timing light, they are only about 30 quid, ive used that and checked it with my mates snap on and its spot on.
