I went to the car auctions in Frating Essex last night for a laugh and there were 3 things that stuck out in the evening.

1st was a Lada went through ok condition and it went for £5! well funny

2nd there was a Vauxhall Chevette, mint condition it war purring with 30,000miles on the clock on an A plate, that went for £100, I forgot all about these classic motoring!

3rd a 1993 MR2 G-limited (import) auto, 77K miles, went through, there was something not right about this because it was a 1993 model and it was registered in 1999 as being imported.....................but it had been given a 1999 T plate registration. I am sure this is dodgy? the rule goes on private plates that you cannot make a car younger than it is, does this rule apply to imports too? even though this registration was strange the car went for £2800.

well good fun for any evening out though, and just thought i'd share the experience!

lmao @ the chevette and Lada

I would have thought that a '93 G-LTD would have gone onto a K or L plate :?

Weird

I've heard before that sometimes these things slip through the net at the DVLA. Human error I suppose. The guy/gal at the DVLA must have got a bit confused with the dates.

My V5 actualy says, date first registered was 1999. But It's a G Reg with a G plate.

the DVLA changed the reg number for me but wouldnt change the year registered!! stoopid!

thats because on the V5 is the date it was first registered in the UK.

i.e, a 1990 car registered in 1999

The V5 document shows:

The date the car was first registered in Japan
The date the car was first registered in England

Sometimes the DVLA make mistakes and read the de-reg documents wrong. I imported a 1991 Nissan Sunny GTI-R for a mate which ended up on an R-Plate. Completely legal as it was just a mistake by the DVLA.

Seen quite a few T-reg Rev1/2 MR2's knocking about.... Of course it could be a ringer. :D

That was pretty expensive for the MR2 wasn't it? How much is a dealer going to charge for that on his forecourt?

Whats the going rate for early 90's G Ltd's?

I'd have paid £100 for the chavette, just for the amusement! Valentine present for the mrs?

well on the form DVLA give you when you import a car you have to fil in its year, i guess DVLA is like any other workplace, some people just dont check and just pass it through.
I was tempted to put my mr2 a year later to get an M reg so i could get an M personal plate but i thought it was best not to do that :)
How many times have you paid for stuff with a credit card and the cashier has not even looked at the signature?
