I think to properly compare tyres, you must decide on what you are measuring them.

These are my departments:

Cost
Mileage
Grip in wet
Grip in dry
Ability to continue to perform through heating

Score each of these out of 10, the best tyre in your test getting 10 and the worst one getting 1 for each test and you will find some surprising results.

Dont call a 10/10 cost+mileage tyre

"a bad tyre" because it doesn't hold heat well on the track, that is totally absurd!!!! That's not what it is for!

The A539 by example is

(IMHO) excellent.

It is REALLY cheap, it lasts 15,000 miles, it grips in the wet and dry adequate to my car and ability and I can take it on a track.

What more do I want?

For 99% of people, spend the money you save on buying cheap tyres on advanced handling training and you will go faster.
