Suppose I should introduce myself...

Post by andy c »

Hi all,

I guess I'm a bit of a lurker really - used to have a mk2 rev2 (NA) but sold it for some silly reason  Guess it's true what you all say though...once bitten and all that - am currently in the market for a rev3 tubby but looking like next year now.

Anyway, not sure if this will be of any use to people but I'm employed by a well known insurer as an underwriter and have been there for seven years now. I'm more than happy to help with any queries about insurance such as claims, policy queries and general stuff you might need help with.

Feel free to PM me if you have any queries or post on the board etc.

Thanks

Andy

hi, welcome to IMOC
dont have any specific questions but tips in general would be good regarding how to get the best quote when renewing your policy
ie - how to play them of against each other to get the price reduced further :thumright:

Thanks guys.

Unfortunately, bit of a vicious circle the insurance game (although I'm sure you don't need me to tell you that). You'll find that the big companies who tend to be most competitive on price (in their opinion) have no need to 'pricematch' against other quotes you've received - they have that many new customers that they aren't that desperate to reduce their premiums further.

You'll occassionally get through to a company who will offer to beat and/or ask how much your best quote is, but these tend to be brokers or sales staff wanting to know whether they have a chance of selling the policy.

The best bit of advice I can give is to make sure your insurer has all the correct details for you - not just for the obvious but as you guys tend to be tubby owners, sales staff sometimes have trouble grouping/finding these vehicles. Best bet is to go on-line and fill it all in yourself - least you know it's right.
