Best thing would be to try and get someone else to drive the car, and then follow it

- see how much smoke there is, and what colour it looks.

Also

- check if you have been using oil

- if you top it up, and a week later it's dropped appreciably, then you are burning oil

- the smoke should have a blue tinge in it.

Check around the tip of the exhaust

- is the inside edge sooty? if you have the car running

- get some one to blip the throttle while you hold a cloth about a foot away.

If you end up with black soot on the cloth, then your car is overfueling.

If the smoke is just on really cold mornings and is very white, then it is probably just the cold.

only other things to have loads of white smoke would be the headgasket

- in which case check the oil filler cap for

'mayo'
