Kenwood 6x9 subs, thinking of gettin a pair for the mr2, being 6x9s they should be able 2 fit into the 'sub box' things behind the seats with a few modifications. Are these any good these speakers and how easy is it to fit a pair of 6x9s in the mr2?
A few people of tried it, and they are relatively easy to fit, but they dont work very well. They are deisgned to work in a large container, i.e. a car boot, like on parcel shelves, and when placed in a smaller container like the sub boxes in the 2's, they produce very little bass.
In my opinion you would be better off buying a decent set of components instead, much better sound!
I have them in mine, they work ok but still not strong enough for what i am lookin for. Better to save up your pennies and get a decent set of components. For the money, i recommend alpine type-r's.

Kenwood do make 6*9 subs http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk sell them, i have never heard them but i saw them in a mag and it said that a pair is supposed to sound like a single 10" sub, the boxes behind the seats are a bit thin in my oppinion and will leak air. if you mounted the subs in a sealed box behind each seat they should sound ok and you will still have room behind the seats for the glass t-top.
Cool idea, the amound of space inside the box is still going to be an issue though. They will have a volume of space recommended for them to work properly and i can almost guarantee the shoebox behind your seat won't be big enough. Talk nicely to Neil and see if he is planning on making anymore 10" boxes and you can do it properly.

Oh yeah, as for focals they are meant to be the best but they cost farrrrrrrrr too much. I have seen the type-r's going for 90 quid. The cheapest set of decent focals i have seen are well more than double that.
