Elections for new 'Forum Moderator' roles

Post by BenF »

The Elections for the new Forum Moderators will be opening shortly. As part of this process, Nomations are now being taken for the post of Forum Moderators.

To aid the Election process, here is some background on the new Role, and details of how we are proposing to run the Elections for the new Forum Moderator posts :
  • What the New post of Forum Moderator is
  • The Abilities and Authorities of a Forum Moderator
  • How many vacancies there are
  • How you can put your name forwards
  • How Elections will be run

Forum Moderator

As a Forum Moderator, you will have the ability to Moderate posts across all the MR2 Boards, and from the General section: Off Topic, Items For Sale and Items Wanted.

The Abilities and Authorities

Forum Moderators have the authority and ability to Moderate posts in specific forums, in order to ensure posts meet the Forum Rules and topics match the guidelines for content in each forum.

Forum Moderators will have the ability to Move posts between forums to meet the above requirements. They will also be able to remove individual posts or topics from the Publicly viewable forums to a hidden forum.

Forum Moderators will not have the power to issue Formal Warnings to members but can recommend to the Committee that one is imposed.

Forum Moderators will have the Rank of 'Forum Moderator'

How many vacancies are there ?

There initally are six vacancies for Forum Moderators

How do I put my name forwards

All Forum members who have not recieved a Formal Warning are able to stand for these posts. If you want to stand, post here stating that. We'll make that post a sticky for you. Two other people then need to second you for the post.

Nominations will remain Open until 9pm on Sunday 23rd October.

How Elections will be run

If there are more than six nominations for Moderator posts, elections will be held, starting on Monday 24th October. A single post will go up with all the nominees listed, and the option to re-open nominations. IMOC-UK Members will be able to vote for any one of the candidates or to re-open nominations - the voting will remain open for seven days.

At the close of the seven days, the six candidates with the most votes become Forum Moderators.

(edit - Moved Michael's post which was above to a new Topic)

Michael, its probably best if you start a new topic with your nomination so we can keep track of who is seconding who.

I'll split your post out to a new topic to help.

If there are any questions about the process above, post away here.

I did think that would make more sense but you said:

So I thought I'd best post here instead of creating a new thread ;)

Thanks for tidying it up though.

Fair enough - it wasn't absolutely clear what I meant by 'here' but I think we're OK now :)
